Wednesday Season 2 Adding Another Addams Family Member, Will Be A Fan Favorite?
The stars of Wednesday confirm that another Addams Family member will join the cast of season 2, but wouldn't say who it is.
Wednesday will be adding a new cast member to its season two lineup. The news was revealed during Netflix’s Tudum event, where Jenna Ortega and her fellow cast mates, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, and Hunter Doohan, appeared via video to address fan theories regarding the unresolved mysteries of the show and their potential impact on the story, Deadline reports.
One theory was the possibility of a new family member joining the Wednesday cast in season 2, which Myers, Sunday, and Doohan confirmed to be true. Although they did not reveal who it was, Cousin Itt and Grandmama were mentioned as favorites for the upcoming season. Additionally, Myers said that the storyline is “so top secret” that even “we don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Although Grandmama has been a part of the Addams Family universe since Charles Addams’ original New Yorker cartoons, Cousin Itt made its debut on The Addams Family television show. Since then, both characters have made several appearances in various adaptations of the Addams Family over the years. In the 1964 show, Blossom Rock portrayed Grandmama, while Felix Silla played Cousin Itt.
Judith Malina and Carol Kane played Grandmama in the two movies directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. More recently, Bette Midler provided the voice for Grandmama in the 2019 film The Addams Family and its 2021 sequel. Snoop Dogg, who contributed to the soundtrack, made a cameo as the voice of Cousin Itt.
It will be interesting to see who could step into these roles for Wednesday season 2.
Throughout the first season of Wednesday, the main members of the Addams Family made guest appearances. Among them were Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones, as Wednesday’s parents, Gomez and Morticia. Isaac Ordonez took on the role of her brother, Pugsley, George Burcea portrayed Lurch, and Fred Armisen appeared as Uncle Fester.
Romanian magician Victor Dorobantu brought the animated movements of Thing to life. Thing has been a significant character in the Addams Family since its original television show. According to Nielsen, Wednesday has swiftly racked up significant viewership numbers on Netflix, surpassing records previously set by shows like Stranger Things and setting the stage for season 2.
While there have been no official announcements about the plot of Wednesday season 2, Jenna Ortega recently said that the upcoming installment will delve deeper into the horror elements of the Addams Family. She also reaffirmed that the new season would move away from focusing on a romantic love interest for Wednesday, which brings a fresh and exciting direction to the series.
Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, Wednesday is an enthralling live-action series that chronicles the adventures of Wednesday Addams, who enrolls in Nevermore Academy. While she strives to harness her new psychic powers, Wednesday embarks on a mission to put an end to a horrifying killing spree that plagues the town of Jericho, all while unraveling a strange 25-year-old mystery.
The series’ popularity led to the announcement of a Wednesday season 2 in January 2023. There is currently no release date for the upcoming episodes.
