Kraven The Hunter First Trailer Is Shockingly Violent
See the brutal first trailer for Kraven the Hunter.
With a title like Kraven the Hunter, you can expect this movie to be badass and violent, but the R-rated Marvel movie goes above and beyond with its new shockingly violent trailer. The three-minute trailer gives a deep dive into how Sergei Dimitri Symostivych Kravinoff (played by Aaron Taylor- Johnson) becomes Kraven the Hunter, and it shows several on-screen bloody deaths. It’s safe to say that you should leave the kiddos at home when you go see this movie in theaters on October 6, 2023.
The trailer begins with Kraven the Hunter chasing down a van and attacking those who are inside, all while his Russian father’s voice (Russell Crowe) speaks in the background, telling him to “never show mercy.”
We then see how a young Sergei gets his supernatural powers after being attacked by a lion and left for dead by his own father. This lights a fire within him to hunt down all who have done him wrong and, as his father says, show them no mercy.
As Kraven the Hunter battles against his foes, he does not hold back when it comes to brutal violence. Throughout the trailer we see multiple people die from gun shots to the head, knife stabs to the throat, and one guy even gets his nose bitten off by Kraven. The death toll for this movie is certainly going to give films like Rambo and Troy a run for their money.
This film will be the fourth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe following Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carniage, and Morbius. Kraven the Hunter is portrayed as one of Spider-Man’s most formidable adversaries in the Marvel comic books as he tries to hunt down the superhero to prove that he is the greatest hunter of all time.
While Spider-Man doesn’t make an appearance in the trailer, it doesn’t mean that he won’t appear in the film.
The trailer makes it seem like Kraven the Hunter is the protagonist of the film as he seeks revenge on his evil father. And yet, another antagonist Aleksei Sytsevich aka ‘The Rhino’ (played by Alessandro Nivola) is introduced towards the end of the trailer, setting him up as a threat to Kraven.
In the Marvel comics, The Rhino is a Russian thug who gets superhuman strength and a protective skin covering from a science experiment, leading him to become a criminal who fights against Spider-Man and the Hulk.
There are three other key characters that will appear in Kraven the Hunter, with the most prominent being Calypso (played by Ariana DeBose), a mystical priestess and Kraven’s love interest. Kraven’s half-brother, Dmitri Smerdyakov (played by Fred Hechinger), becomes The Chameleon, a master of disguise and an arch nemesis of Spider-Man. The Foreigner (played by Christopher Abbott) will also be introduced as a martial arts master.
We know that Aaron Taylor-Johnson does a great job acting as a superhero after his roles as Kick-Ass and Pietro Maximoff, so audiences should expect to see a great performance along with lots of bloodshed in Kraven the Hunter.
