Deadpool 3 To Feature All New Marvel Versions Of The X-Men?
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld recently teased the possibility of all the X-Men possibly having cameos in Deadpool 3.
Deadpool 3 may include cameo appearances by various versions of the X-Men. The news was revealed by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld during an appearance on the Nuke the Fridge YouTube channel. While not giving too much away, the comic book writer and artist said, “The stuff I know, it will melt your face, alright? That’s all I’m going to say; it’ll melt your face!”
When Liefeld was asked about the rumored appearance of legacy X-Men characters in Deadpool 3, he referred to a discussion he had with Kevin Feige, who sought the comic writer’s perspective on specific choices for the upcoming movie. “I was very honored. Mr. Feige reached out to me late last summer and wanted my input on some decisions.”
“Then we had a follow-up meeting with the producers. I was just honored that they wanted to have my input, and they would say, ‘We’re considering a lot of different roads, a lot of different paths.’”

Although Liefeld knew about Ryan Reynolds teaming up with Hugh Jackman, he said the cast lineup was genuinely mind-blowing.
“Some stuff I was aware of; I had to be quiet before it was announced. I knew Hugh and Ryan were getting back together for ‘Wolverine 3.’ I’ve been very fortunate people put stuff in front of me. And trust me, all I’m saying is, I saw that cast list. I think people are just going to get freakin’ blown away, and I’m not saying more than what I just said.”

From the moment Deadpool 3 was unveiled, Liefeld consistently expressed his support for the project. He went as far as contradicting a recent report that suggested Reynolds’ renowned comedic talents wouldn’t be utilized in the production. The report indicated that Reynolds, being one of the credited writers for the sequel, wouldn’t be able to improvise lines on the set due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.
However, Liefeld clarified that Reynolds would instead ad-lib lines during the post-production phase, presumably after the WGA strike concludes. “You know that he’s wearing a mask and that in post-production, he can ad-lib like crazy. ADR is where really fun bits happen,” the Deadpool creator said when responding to fans’ concerns on social media.
Interestingly, Zazie Beetz, who co-starred with Reynolds in Deadpool 2, recently hinted that Deadpool 3 might go on hiatus due to the strike. However, the actress emphasized that it was purely speculation on her part, as she hadn’t been approached to reprise her role as Domino in the film. “I’m actually not in Deadpool 3, so I’m not aware of their approach,” she told the press.
Deadpool 3 will see Ryan Reynolds debut as Wade Wilson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Shawn Levy is directing the project from a script he co-wrote with Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Reynolds. Hugh Jackman, who seemingly retired Wolverine in 2019’s Logan, will reprise his role as the iconic mutant.
Expressing his enthusiasm for Reynolds and Jackman’s MCU debuts in Phase Five of the superhero franchise, Kevin Feige previously described the Deadpool 3 team-up as “amazing” and shared his excitement about Jackman’s return. “We’ve got Hugh Jackman coming back for our first Deadpool film within the MCU. That’s our first R-rated film. To have Hugh come back is incredible,” he said.
Jackman will portray a fresh iteration of Wolverine in Deadpool 3. Reynolds previously mentioned that the creative team presented the veteran X-Men actor with a version of the character that diverges significantly from the one he left behind, giving him something entirely new to explore. Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, and Karan Soni will also appear in the film.
Meanwhile, the possibility of iconic figures from the classic X-Men movies returning for Deadpool 3 is an exciting prospect. Halle Berry, who portrayed Storm, was recently spotted sporting a hairstyle reminiscent of her Marvel and 20th Century Fox appearance, hinting at the potential for her return as the weather-controlling mutant.
There has also been speculation about Owen Wilson and Tara Strong joining the movie as Mobius and Miss Minutes, following their roles in Loki. Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
