Omar Sy, Blockbuster Actor, Cast In Fast 11
Omar Sy has joined the cast of Fast 11.
Although the end may be looming in the distance, that isn’t stopping the momentum for the Fast & Furious franchise as we’ve learned that Omar Sy has been tapped for a role in 2025’s Fast 11. Breaking the news, Small Screen released the official scoop that Sy, known for his lengthy career in some of the biggest action films around, would be adding his name to the upcoming film’s ever-growing call sheet. The France native has made a name for himself in films including The Intouchables and Burnt, the former of which he took home the César Award for Best Actor.
You may also recognize his name from high-octane titles including X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jurassic World, Inferno, Transformers: The Last Knight, The Call of the Wild, and Jurassic World Dominion. There’s no doubt that when filmmaker Louis Leterrier was dreaming of how to spice up the end of the fan-favorite franchise, one of the first names to come to his mind was Omar Sy as the duo have long collaborated on a slew of projects together.
Omar Sy and Louis Leterrier have previously worked alongside one another on Netflix’s French action comedy feature, The Takedown, while the pair have long had their names together on the streamer’s series Lupin. With two successful seasons under their belts, Sy and Leterrier are expected to make a return to the world of Assane Diop for the show’s third season which is expected to land on the platform later this year.
Arriving in theaters just a few weeks ago, Fast X spelled out the penultimate film in a franchise that has been around since 2001. While many things have changed, family will always stay the same and that’s exactly the sentiment that Omar Sy will be stepping into when he makes his franchise debut in Fast 11. So far, the latest title is performing so-so at the box office as well as with critics and audiences who have mixed feelings on the latest installment – although most are agreeing that Jason Momoa’s villain is what makes the story.
While we don’t know much about the next movie, we do know that along with Omar Sy, we can expect returning faces like Vin Diesel, Nathalie Emmanuel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham, Sung Kang, and even Jason Momoa. Although it’s still up in the air, there’s also a good chance that newcomers including Brie Larson, Daniela Melchior, and Alan Ritchson will also reprise their roles from Fast X with the very slim possibility that Dwayne Johnson will put his beef with Vin Diesel aside to close out the chapter on a positive note.
Even though this is expected to be the last movie to come from the decades-running franchise, Omar Sy jumping behind the wheel and celebrating what will be his debut in Fast 11 will still be a great career move even if this is the first and only time we’re introduced to his character. If you haven’t yet, put your gears into motion and catch Fast X on the big screen before it zooms out of theaters.
