Kate Beckinsale has shared some heartbreaking news about her family. Clive, her cat, has died. The actress took to social media to reveal the sad news with a somber post. “I don’t have it in me to make a montage or even look at pictures of him yet. Every single part of my house feels like he should be in it. If anyone is expecting to hear from me, you may not for a bit, and I’m sorry.”
During the pandemic, Kate Beckinsale’s social media followers had the opportunity to become better acquainted with Clive. As the world was under lockdown, she regularly shared photos and videos featuring her beloved pet, turning him into an internet sensation with his antics and spreading joy on people’s social media feeds.
In June 2020, Clive dressed up to celebrate his 17th birthday and delighted his fans with a rendition of a Cat Stevens song. Since then, Kate Beckinsale has shared pictures of them wearing matching tuxedos and sweaters, showcased her cat dressed as Santa Claus, and even posted a video of her and Clive grooving to the “hollaback girl”.
In a 2019 interview with People, Kate Beckinsale revealed that Clive, who often wears a grumpy expression, had overcome cancer despite his advanced age. She also explained that she adopted the grey and white Persian cat when her 24-year-old daughter, Lily Sheen, was just a child. She also detailed Clive’s favorite things, which include suitcases, boxes, and bags.
“If you bring home a pair of sneakers or take out a bag, he’s immediately inside it,” Kate Beckinsale told People. “So we got him this suitcase bed, and he loves it so much.” Her other cat, Willow, prefers to sleep in dangerous spots like the back of a drawer. Willow was inherited from a friend because he and Clive go along so well.
