Megan Fox’s Expendables 4 Role Finally Revealed
Megan Fox plays the girlfriend of Jason Statham’s Lee Christmas in The Expendables 4, seemingly replacing Charisma Carpenter in her role.
Megan Fox’s role in The Expendables 4 has been revealed. The actress plays Gina, a CIA agent and the ex-girlfriend of Jason Statham’s Lee Christmas. The character is seen reuniting with her former beau in the new trailer for the highly anticipated action movie. Their double-entendre-filled shenanigans are eventually interrupted by Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross, who asks Lee for help.
Gina is later seen in combat gear, assisting Barney’s team in preventing nuclear missiles from triggering a catastrophic World War III. While her character is new to the franchise, Megan Fox essentially replaces Charisma Carpenter, who was last seen in Expendables 2. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum played a significant role in the first two movies as Lacy, the on-again-off-again love interest of Lee.
In the first film, their relationship faced challenges due to Lee’s dangerous missions. In the sequel, they were finally committed to each other, with plans for a wedding. However, in The Expendables 3, Lacy’s character disappears without explanation.
Director Simon West shed some light on the character in the sequel’s audio commentary.
According to West, there was originally a scene where Lee tells Barney that he and Lacy broke up over the phone. However, this conversation was ultimately cut from the film, possibly to make space for Carpenter’s return. Lacy was never mentioned in the third installment, and Megan Fox’s Gina seems to have taken her place in the story and Lee’s life.
The Expendables 4 is directed by Scott Waugh from a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer, Tad Daggerhart, and Max Adams. The movie sees Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture return to the franchise alongside newcomers Megan Fox, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Tony Jaa, Andy Garcia, and Iko Uwais.
The story follows the Expendables, the world’s last line of defense when all other options are off the table. Armed with every weapon known to man, the team (along with newly cast Megan Fox) is tasked with uncovering a conspiracy that can potentially ignite a nuclear war between Russia and the United States.
The Expendables franchise debuted in 2010 with a film co-written and directed by Sylvester Stallone. Alongside Stallone, the first movie featured an ensemble cast including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, and Mickey Rourke. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis also made cameo appearances.
The franchise continued with The Expendables 2 in 2012, introducing new additions such as Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Chuck Norris. In 2014, The Expendables 3 expanded its star-studded line-up to include Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Glen Powell, Kelsey Grammer, Victor Ortiz, Ronda Rousey, and Kellan Lutz. As such, the addition of Megan Fox is a great fit.
A fourth film was announced in 2015. Stallone initially left the project due to creative differences with producers. He eventually returned but stated it would be his final movie in the franchise. Schwarzenegger, who starred in The Expendables 2 and The Expendables 3, also confirmed that he won’t be returning for the fourth installment. The Expendables 4, featuring Megan Fox hits theaters on September 22.
