See Brie Larson Stun Cannes In A Sparkling Chanel Dress

At the Cannes Film Festival this week, Brie Larson wasn’t only a member of the festival jury, but a star of the red carpet in a dazzling Chanel dress. The festival itself lives at the intersection of cinema and fashion, and the Fast X star paid tribute to both in an Instagram post that expressed her gratitude to the festival organizers for the honor of serving on the jury and to Chanel for the amazing gown she got to wear. She shared several photos of her look, all of which came courtesy of her feature in Vogue.

The black-and-white motif of the dress’s layered, filigreed pattern was echoed in sleek, slightly strappy black-and-white heels. The whole outfit was set off with sparkly accents throughout, tying it all together with shimmer and flare, while remaining tasteful and sleek.
Of course, this is a film festival, and Brie Larson is there to do more than draw eyes and cameras on the red carpet, serving on the feature films jury alongside Paul Dano, Julia Ducournau, Damián Szifron, Atiq Rahimi, Rungano Nyoni, Denis Ménochet (who you might remember from Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglorious Basterds), Maryam Touzani, and jury president Ruben Östlund. The group includes writers, directors, actors, and more, and hails from France, Morocco, Sweden, Afghanistan, and Argentina. It will be this group’s job to choose the winner of the festival’s most prestigious award, the Palme d’Or.
In her post, Brie Larson said that being on the jury has been an honor and called the education in the human experience she had viewing the festival’s films with her fellow jurors “life changing.” She also expressed her gratitude to Chanel for allowing her the opportunity to express herself through their designs, saying she has felt “proud” and “really darn lucky.” Larson has been lucky indeed, as Fast X has been at the top of the box office worldwide, though it was not on the screening schedule at Cannes.
Still, Brie Larson and her fellow jurors have seen films from around the world there, including Martin Scorsese‘s Killers of the Flower Moon and Wim Wenders’ Anselm – Das Rauschen der Zeit, a documentary about contemporary artist Anselm Kiefer. The offerings include features, shorts, and more, and even Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, whose star Harrison Ford accepted an honorary Palme d’Or for his career in cinema last Thursday. The 80-year-old legend was moved to tears by the proceedings, and the moment is already a highlight of this year’s festival.
While Brie Larson and her fellow jurors have more films to view and a big prize to award, the festival seems to be doing what it does best—bring people from around the world together in honor of cinema.
