See The First Look At Anthony Mackie’s New Captain America Uniform
Anthony Mackie is wearing a new Captain America uniform in a behind-the-scenes photo.
If you’ve been wondering what Anthony Mackie’s new Captain America uniform is going to look like in the upcoming Captain America: New World Order film, then you’re in luck. A recent behind-the-scenes photo that surfaced on Instagram gives us a grainy but good look at Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson donning the new uniform while filming the upcoming Marvel film in Atlanta, Georgia. Mackie can be seen in this photo talking to somebody from the production staff and smiling at the camera.
Though Anthony Mackie’s Captain America uniform boasts the usual red, white, and blue color scheme that we know and love, it’s a far cry from the uniform that we saw during the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Not only do we see a different star pattern on the chest piece, we’re also seeing a lot more blue than white in this iteration. Another notable difference in this new uniform is the headpiece; The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showed us some face protection in the form of an open-faced mask, but in the Instagram photo, Anthony Mackie is seen wearing only goggles.
Considering that this photo may have been snapped between takes, we’re not ruling out the face-piece at this point in production. It could be that Anthony Mackie just needed some fresh air and took the mask off for a second but left the goggles on to keep the sun out of his eyes. Since production is currently underway, it’s safe to say that we’ll probably see some more detailed photos as the weeks progress.
Filming for Captain America: New World Order began on March 21, 2023, and is expected to wrap up by June 30. Then after a somewhat lengthy post-production treatment, the film will be slated for May 3, 2024, released as part of Phase Five of the MCU. So we’re holding out hope that we’ll get a better look at Anthony Mackie in his new Captain America getup because we don’t think we’ll be able to wait an entire year to see it on the big screen.
As for where we are in the overall continuity of the MCU, New World Order will be the fourth installment of the Captain America film series and a continuation of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier miniseries on Disney+. The finale of the latter showed us Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson finally accepting his role as Captain America after receiving his shield from Steve Rogers at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Though this changing of the guard has been a long time coming, we’re beyond excited to see what’s in store for the continuation of this saga.
Alongside Anthony Mackie, New World Order will co-star Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, and if our eyes aren’t deceiving us, we will also see an appearance from WWE superstar Seth Freakin’ Rollins. Additionally, New World Order will have Harrison Ford taking on the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, replacing William Hurt, who passed away in 2022.
In the meantime, we’ll keep our eyes peeled to see if we can spot another photo of Anthony Mackie in his new uniform so we can all get a better look.
