Jonathan Majors Steps Out Of The Shadows For First Time Since Horrific Allegations
Jonathan Majors appeared virtually in court for the case brought on by his alleged abuse victim.
With the Jonathan Majors drama, it’s been a very weird time to be a Marvel fan. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania introduced Majors (who previously appeared on Loki) as Kang the Conquerer, the new MCU Big Bad intended to replace Thanos, but he was arrested in March for allegedly attacking a 30-year-old woman. Now, The Hollywood Reporter reports that he appeared virtually in court and that he must continue to stay away from the alleged victim, who is now alleging he injured her right arm and pushed her into a car.
What made this so significant is that Jonathan Majors has been wisely laying low (most likely at the recommendation of his legal team) since the allegations first surfaced. Therefore, fans have only been able to speculate as to the actor’s alleged innocence or guilt as well as whether the case is really that bad or not. Considering that other women have now come forward to accuse Majors and that he was dropped by both his talent manager and his PR firm, many fans have concluded that things are looking pretty grim.
Though he virtually appeared in court as requested, Jonathan Majors still wasn’t very talkative about the matter. He merely gave affirmative responses when prompted by the judge, most likely because he knew that saying almost anything else would mean potentially giving everyone from his online haters to the prosecution ammo for their arguments.
However, it is worth noting that the exact allegations against Jonathan Majors are different than they were before. Previously, it was reported that the alleged victim suffered injuries to her head and neck, leading many to think that the Marvel actor had tried to choke the woman. Now, the modified complaint no longer mentions neck bruising or other neck injuries, but there are new allegations of him injuring her arm and pushing her into a car, and previous allegations regarding lacerations of the ear and finger still remain from the original complaint.
As for Jonathan Majors’ defense, the Hollywood veteran’s legal team maintains that the case is nothing more than a “witch hunt” and that it was Majors who called 911 for the woman because he worried about her mental health. Still, she was granted a temporary order of protection, and at this recent court appearance, Majors learned that he must continue avoiding contact with this woman (something he is perfectly fine with).
After this court appearance, Majors’ lawyer maintains his client’s innocence, saying that his accuser is lying and that they have video proof that will exonerate the actor. We will likely learn more about all of this when Jonathan Majors makes his next court appearance (physically rather than virtually) on June 13.
If there truly is video proof that would clear the actor of any wrongdoing, then releasing it sooner rather than later would be the best way to get his career back on track. But at this point, only Kevin Feige knows whether that would be enough to greenlight Majors’ future Marvel appearances or if he will be replaced by a new actor, heralding a new era of “variant fatigue” to finally replace the superhero fatigue James Gunn warned us about.
