Chicago Fire Just Had Major Injuries On Set After ATV Crash
Two security guards were injured when trespassing youths crashed an ATV on the Chicago Fire set.
Two security guards were injured during the filming of Chicago Fire when a group of unidentified youths drove an ATV onto the set of the hit NBC series. The incident occurred in Chicago’s South Loop, close to the downtown Fire Academy. The guards, who are retired members of the Chicago Police Department, were struck by the vehicle and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to Deadline, the youths involved in the incident managed to escape from the scene. The guard’s heroic efforts prevented the four-wheeler from reaching the cast and crew of the Chicago Fire. The incident, which created a buzz on social media, took place during the second to last day of filming for the show’s 11th season.
This isn’t the first time Chicago Fire has experienced a real-life threat. In September 2022, an unknown person wielding a handgun shot at a group of people standing close to the set while filming was underway. Fortunately, no one was injured. But the perpetrator was able to escape from the police in a dark-colored vehicle.
Both incidents eerily echo the series premise, which focuses on first responders working at Firehouse 51. Created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, Chicago Fire premiered on NBC in 2012. The show is produced by Dick Wolf, who is known for creating the Law & Order franchise. The popular procedural follows the lives of firefighters and paramedics in Chicago, Illinois.
Each episode sees the team respond to various emergencies in the city, including fires, explosions, and other disasters. Chicago Fire also explores their relationships with each other and their families. When the series debuted, the story was built around Lieutenant Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney).
However, Spencer left Chicago Fire after spending 10 seasons on the show. Taylor Kinney took a leave of absence to deal with a personal matter earlier this year. The cast now features Eamonn Walker as Battalion Chief Wallace Boden, Kara Killmer as paramedic Sylvie Brett, Miranda Rae Mayo as Firefighter Stella Kidd, and David Eigenberg as Firefighter Christopher Herrmann.
Chicago Fire has been praised for its realistic portrayal of the firefighting profession and its attention to detail in depicting emergencies that the characters face. The show has a dedicated fan base that appreciates its blend of drama, action, and humor. Its exploration of important social issues such as mental health, LGBTQ+ representation, and racial diversity has also been applauded.
Chicago Fire has won several awards and nominations since its 2012 premiere. In 2013, the show won the ASCAP Film and Television Music Award for Top Television Series and the Imagen Foundation Award for Best Actress/Television for Monica Raymund. The series was also nominated for the Imagen Foundation Award for Best Primetime Television Program and Best Actor/Television for Joe Minoso.
In addition to its successful run, Chicago Fire has spawned several spin-off shows, including Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med, both of which are set in the same fictional universe as the flagship series.
