It goes without saying that we’ve all experienced awkward moments that have made us look at our family members in a different light. And Margot Robbie’s nude scenes in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street was one of those moments for her. In fact, according to Daily Star, Robbie’s brother was so shocked upon viewing her nude scenes, that he refused to talk to her for three months!

Margot Robbie’s role as Naomi Lapaglia in The Wolf of Wall Street was her breakout role, which should, for all intents and purposes, make her family proud. But she has stated that after she and her entire family watched the film together, they were made quite uncomfortable by her willingness to show it all on the silver screen.

We’ve all had those moments growing up when we barge into the family bathroom with reckless abandon without considering if somebody is currently using it. This kind of scenario often ends with the bathroom’s occupant screaming and the barging party repeatedly saying, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I swear I didn’t see anything.” But in the case of Margot Robbie, it was her nudity that was thrust unexpectedly upon her family, which, needless to say, caught them off guard after quite literally seeing everything.

And it’s not that Margot Robbie’s brother was necessarily mad at her; he was just shocked because he wasn’t expecting to see his sister nude in the film. We all process shock differently, and in a way, Robbie’s brother could have felt like he violated his sister’s privacy when he saw the scene in which she was standing in the doorway wearing nothing but a pair of stockings.

Though we can’t blame Margot Robbie for taking on such a racy role, it might have served her better if she gave her family fair warning that her role as Naomi Lapaglia involved nudity, drug taking, and other forms of excess that may not be considered family-friendly. But hindsight is 20/20, and we hope that Robbie at least warned her family about the cocaine-fueled orgy in Babylon.

However, Margot Robbie doesn’t necessarily regret her nude scenes in The Wolf of Wall Street. But there is one particular nude scene she says she would have reconsidered if she could go back and do it again. The scene in question involves Robbie’s Naomi getting intimate with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort on top of a massive pile of money.

Though it’s not the sexual encounter that she took issue with, but rather the abrasiveness of the prop money she was laying on top of. Margot Robbie recalls that the scene took over an hour to shoot, and the prop money was quite sharp, causing the Suicide Squad star to receive a number of paper cuts along her back. And if we had to weigh in on whether traumatizing your sibling with your full frontal nudity scenes or getting a series of paper cuts during production is worse, it’s a tough call to say the least.

But time heals all wounds, physical, psychological, and otherwise. So we can only hope that Margot Robbie and her family can all have a good laugh over this over 10 years later.
