Olivia Wilde Gets Cheeky With Tiny Thong Bikini For Her Birthday
Olivia Wilde shared a photo of herself in a thong to celebrate her 39th birthday.
Many actors, like House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock recently showed at the Golden Globes, celebrating their achievements with wild parties filled with plenty of alcohol and debauchery. One actress recently chose a revealing way to ring in her latest birthday. According to an Instagram post, actress and Don’t Worry Darling director Olivia Wilde chose to celebrate by posting a cheeky and revealing photo for her 39th birthday.
On March 21, Olivia Wilde posted a black and white photo to her Instagram to celebrate her big day. She is rocking a white, barely-there thong two-piece bikini that flaunts her fit physique while posing with friend Molly Howard at a beach. Wilde’s caption starts with “39 and feeling fine,” which is fun, playful, and fitting.
Olivia Wilde, whose actual birthday was on March 10, pokes fun at herself, saying that she “milked it for way too long” when referring to her birthday. The most revealing thing about the image has nothing to do with her outfit and everything to do with one blurry but noticeable feature on the actress’s body.
The photo reveals a very bold tattoo placement. Although Olivia Wilde refers to it in her caption as a “tramp stamp,” which is usually placed on the lower back, this one is placed squarely on one of the cheeks of her butt. Although hard to make out in the photo, the tattoo is in the form of a dragon.
Although this may be the first time many fans are seeing it, Olivia Wilde has actually mentioned the tattoo before. In a 2017 interview with Craig Ferguson, she revealed that she got the tattoo at only 13 while in New York City.
The accompanying hashtags that she chose show the post comes from a place of playfulness and empowerment. At 39, Olivia Wilde is still confident in her skin and showing off her toned physique. She shows that she doesn’t take herself too seriously and that she is proud of some of the silly or “shameless” things from her younger years, poking fun at critics who may scorn her for showing off too much of her body or for the placement of her tattoo.
Olivia Wilde may be a household name now, but she hasn’t always been. The actress and director first gained attention for her role on the teen drama series The O.C., on which she played a love interest of dreamy leads Adam Brody and Mischa Barton. She also is known for her role in the medical drama House alongside Hugh Laurie.
Olivia Wilde has also had several roles in film, including the comedy The Girl Next Door, the drama Conversations with Other Women with Helena Bonham Carter, the sci-fi romance Her alongside Joaquin Phoenix, and a starring role in the horror film The Lazarus Effect.
Wilde has moved away from acting somewhat in recent years to focus on her growing role as a director. In 2019 she directed the teen buddy comedy Booksmart, her feature directorial debut. The film was a critical success, sporting a 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. For the feature, she won the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
Olivia Wilde’s second film as director, Don’t Worry Darling, was released in 2022, but the film gained media attention for all of the wrong reasons. The film was mired by a string of controversies, including a romance with star Harry Styles that many saw as unprofessional, a supposed feud with star Florence Pugh, conflict with fired actor Shia LeBeouf, and Wilde getting publically served court documents about child custody while presenting the film at CinemaCon.
After those various scandals and her separation from Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis in 2022, Olivia Wilde is letting off some steam and allowing herself time to celebrate herself, her mistakes, and her accomplishments in 2023.
