Keanu Reeves Reveals Lance Reddick Statement After Actor’s Tragic Death
Keanu Reeves released a statement of condolence for John Wick actor Lance Reddick, who recently passed away.
Lance Reddick’s tragic passing at the too-soon age of 60 has led to an outpouring of love, praise, and condolences for the actor and his family. Keanu Reeves and John Wick director Chad Stahelski recently released their statement on his passing, saying, “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick. He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with.”
Keanu Reeves and Stahelski’s statement also states that they are dedicating the upcoming John Wick 4 to Lance Reddick’s memory, saying, “Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family, and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly.” (via Variety)
Keanu Reeves and Stahelski worked with Lance Reddick throughout the John Wick franchise, as the actor reprised his role as Charon in each film. Reddick’s cool and collected presence was the perfect fit for the concierge of the assassin hotel. Of course, we will get to see Reddick in one last John Wick film, as he will be appearing in the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4.
However, that won’t be the very last time we see Reddick as Charon. Both Keanu Reeves and Lance Reddick will be appearing in the spin-off film Ballerina, which stars Ana de Armas as an assassin out for revenge. Reports say that all of his scenes had been filmed, so we’ll get to see one last performance from him as Charon when that releases.
Neither Keanu Reeves nor Lance Reddick will be appearing in the prequel series The Continental, but we will get to see Ayomide Adegun play a younger version of his character alongside Colin Woodell as a younger version of Ian McShane’s character. The prequel series will also star Peter Greene, Mel Gibson, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, and Nhung Kate.
Keanu Reeves and Stahelski were far from the only celebrities to pay tribute to Lance Reddick after his passing. Many of his other co-stars from the John Wick franchise paid tribute, as did his co-stars from shows like Fringe, The Wire, and Bosch. Players of the Bungie game Destiny have even been flocking to his character’s in-game tower to sit or emote in silence and pay tribute to his character.
Keanu Reeves and Stahelski dedicated John Wick: Chapter 4 to Lance Reddick’s memory is certainly a fitting tribute, but the John Wick franchise isn’t the only project that Reddick left behind. Reported, Reddick has completed all of his work for the Kiefer Sutherland-led film The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, the first season of the upcoming Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Hulu’s White Men Can’t Jump reboot, and the Regina King-starring Shirley Chisholm biopic Shirley. It was also recently revealed that Reddick voiced Hellboy in an upcoming video game titled Hellboy: Web of Wyrd from publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment and developer Upstream Arcade.
