Zack Snyder Is Back With DC? New Message Promises A Return From Darkseid
Zack Snyder Tweeted a cryptic video promising something from DC's Darkseid with the dates April 28-30, 2023
Zack Synder recently posted a seemingly DC-related tweet, so fans are sure to be going down the theory rabbit hole for the foreseeable future. The Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director took to Twitter to post an incredibly cryptic video that teases an incoming transmission from Lord Darkseid with the dates April 28-30, 2023, and the hashtag #fullcircle. Check out the Tweet below:
As far as anyone knows, Zack Snyder was not going to be part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for DC going forward. This tweet is making it seem like we should probably be questioning those assumptions and that maybe they found a way to include Synder after all. The #fullcircle hashtag certainly makes it seem like the project will be related to the now-defunct Snyderverse.
What’s strange about Zack Snyder’s tweet is that the seemingly DC-related project has multiple dates, with the post telling viewers to save the date for April 28-30. Could this mean that we could look forward to a multi-part Darkseid-related special? Or maybe there’s another Snyder cut of Justice League that includes more Darkseid scenes and will be in theaters for a limited time?
It’s truly hard to say with the limited information in this Tweet. James Gunn and Peter Safran have been distancing themselves from Zack Synder’s Synderverse and putting an end to the current DC timeline before moving on to their own slate of films. With this tweet, Synder has overturned everyone’s expectations, and now he’s making it seem like he may actually be a little more involved than we thought.
While many fans were optimistic about James Gunn and Peter Safran’s appointments to lead the DCU going forward, there is still a subsection of fans who like Zack Snyder’s approach to DC and wanted to see it come to a satisfying conclusion. Perhaps this Darkseid-related project will give these fans some closure and make it easier to move on from the Snyderverse. There are still some characters that Snyder introduced who have films coming out this year, so maybe this will help to set up those films.
Zack Snyder introduced both Ezra Miller‘s Flash and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman to the world of DC films before Gunn and Safran took over. These two will both have films coming out in 2023 with The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The Flash is supposedly resetting the universe and prepping it for Gunn and Safran’s new projects.
Zack Snyder also introduced Ben Affleck’s Batman to DC, who is also making an appearance in The Flash. It remains to be seen if any of these actors will continue to reprise their roles under the new regime. Regardless, it does seem like Snyder will be getting to say his final peace on the comic-book universe he started in some way or another.
A truly ambitious possibility is that Gunn and Safran are continuing Zack Snyder’s Synderverse under the DC Elseworlds banner, which includes films and shows outside of the main DCU timeline. These projects include things like Matt Reeves’ Batverse and the Joaquin Phoenix Joker films. It seems like a remote possibility, but you never know.
