Millie Bobby Brown Reveals Her Future After Stranger Things Ends
Post-Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown wants to direct films.
Once Stranger Things is over, Millie Bobby Brown plans to develop as a film director. In a recent interview with Parade, the Godzilla star revealed that she intends to continue directing, while also being aware that filmmaking is a complex task. Specifically, Millie Bobby Brown said that “I also am very aware that it takes a lot to fill those boots and I don’t want anything handed to me,” though she likely does not have to worry about that with her current level of fame.
Millie Bobby Brown recently made her directorial debut with a short film for Samsung, shot entirely with the company’s Galaxy S22 Ultra’s Nightography features. In the two-and-a-half-minute film, the Stranger Things star was paired with a small girl who represented her younger self and showed off some surprisingly impressive aerial maneuvers and gymnastics. Presumably, some of those Enola Holmes training sessions have stuck with her.
While Millie Bobby Brown wants to take the leap to behind the camera, there is an entire final season of Stranger Things to get through. The mega-popular Netflix series is set to conclude with a fifth and final set of episodes, which reportedly will not be released until at least 2025. Given the ballooning runtimes of Season 4, we can probably expect some pretty long episodes in this final one.
While Stranger Things was unquestionably a huge boon to Millie Bobby Brown and the rest of the cast, it seems that pretty much everyone involved is ready for the era-defining science fiction show to wrap up. Both Finn Wolfhard and David Harbour have publicly said that they think the show is due to be over, while Millie Bobby Brown says as much elsewhere in the Parade interview.
Aside from Stranger Things Season 5, Millie Bobby Brown has a number of anticipated upcoming projects. In the film Damsel, she will star as a medieval princess who discovers her imminent fairy tale wedding is actually a ritual sacrifice to a dragon and that she needs to learn to fight for herself, presumably in a very empowering way. Damsel will also co-star Ray Winstone, Angela Bassett, and Robin Wright.
Millie Bobby Brown will also soon be starring in The Electric State, an upcoming Western science fiction film in which she plays a young woman on an alternate Earth looking for her disappeared brother (Chris Pratt). The movie’s ensemble cast will include Anthony Mackie, Ke Huy Quan, Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito, and Brian Cox.
It is unknown whether Millie Bobby Brown will be starring in a third Enola Holmes film, her Netflix series of movies about Sherlock Holmes’ younger, proto-feminist sister. That version of Sherlock was played by Henry Cavill, who seems unlikely to be returning to the role, especially given the sheer number of projects that he seems to be circling these days (such as a new DCU role, a Marvel role for Sony, a Marvel role for Disney, or a James Bond villain). But at least we know what Millie Bobby Brown wants to get up to next.
