See Timothee Chalamet As Batman’s New Nightwing
Our AI gives us an incredible look at how Nightwing could appear played by Timothee Chalamet in DC's upcoming The Brave and the Bold.
Could Timothee Chalamet be the first live-action Nightwing on the big screen? We don’t know that it will happen, but judging by the image created with the help of an AI program, he could clearly look the part. Here at GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT we were curious about how the Dune star would look as Batman’s first sidekick, and the look is pretty stunning.
No, we don’t have any inside info about Timothee Chalamet joining the DCU as Nightwing or anyone else, but the 27-year-old Oscar-nominated star clearly could look the part. With James Gunn and Peter Safran ready to transform DC’s cinematic narrative in the wake of the upcoming The Flash, they’re no doubt hoping for some premiere talent to help them out. So who knows?
We also don’t know for sure whether or not Nightwing, or any version of Dick Grayson, will be showing up in The Brave and the Bold for Timothee Chalamet or anyone else to play, but from what little Gunn has revealed about the film, Grayson’s appearance is certainly possible, if not likely. The movie will reportedly center on Damian Wayne: Bruce Wayne’s biological son and the current iteration of Robin. When Damian first re-entered his father’s life in the DC Comics in the mid-aughts, it came with a big shake-up of the Bat Family, including Grayson, who went on to partner with Damian when he temporarily assumed the mantle of Batman.
Sadly, there is one reason to believe Timothee Chalamet won’t be playing Nightwing or any other DCU character. As IndieWire reported last year, Leonardo DiCaprio gave the Bones and All star the advice, “No hard drugs and no superhero movies.” If Chalamet is planning on following DiCaprio’s words of “wisdom,” then neither James Gunn nor Kevin Feige are likely to have him answer their calls.
Of course, just as there’s reason to think Timothee Chalamet would never play Nightwing or any other superhero, there’s cause to be hopeful. The actor’s next two cinematic appearances are both scheduled to drop this holiday season. He’ll appear as the titular candy mogul in Wonka and the following month reprise the role of Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Two.
Paul Atreides and Willy Wonka may not be superheroes, but they are — like superheroes — fan-favorite characters from hugely popular franchises whose stories have already been adapted to the screen and rebooted several times. If the dude’s willing to be the Kwisatz Haderach, he should be okay with at least considering Nightwing.
If hypothetically, Timothee Chalamet were to play Nightwing, it would make the very first big-screen live-action portrayal of Dick Grayson with that particular codename. However, Brenton Thwaites plays him in HBO Max’s Titans, which was recently announced to be ending with its current fourth season.
