Alexandra Daddario doesn’t just dazzle crowds at Hollywood premieres. She also saves some bold fashion choices for television. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show in January, the actress wowed viewers with a bright red, form-fitting midi dress. Along with a plunging neckline and bold belt, the outfit also featured a slit to accentuate her legs.

The White Lotus alum accessorized her outfit with red strappy sandals, gold earrings, and a chunky gold bracelet. Except for red lipstick, Alexandra Daddario kept her makeup simple with natural eye shadow and powder blue nail polish. She wore her dark hair in a sleek up style which didn’t draw attention away from her beautiful dress.

The actress appeared on the talk show to promote Mayfair Witches. Created by Esta Spalding, the horror drama series is based on the Anne Rice novel, Lives of the Mayfair Witches. The story follows brilliant neurosurgeon Doctor Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario), who learns that she is the heiress of a powerful witch dynasty haunted by a sinister spirit.

Mayfair Witches premiered on AMC and AMC+ on January 8. The series received mixed reviews from critics, with a 46 percent approval rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. The site’s general consensus described the series as a competent gloss with a likable lead in Alexandra Daddario. However, the story contains too many derivative elements to conjure a compelling spell of its own.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Alexandra Daddario said she took the role because she was fascinated with Anne Rice. “I am always intrigued by this idea of what someone with her mind and her perception of the world around her has to say about what it means to be a woman,” she told the publication.

“No matter how strong you are or how much power you have, you still have to contend with your place in the world, the discrimination that comes with being a woman,” Alexandra Daddario continued. She explained that Mayfair Witches puts this reality in a fantastical extreme story about a woman who fights for what is hers even though the men around her don’t agree.

Along with Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Fielding, Mayfair Witches stars Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, and Jack Huston as Lasher. Consisting of eight episodes, it is the second television series in Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe, after Interview with the Vampire. The show has already been renewed for a second season.

The series finale sees Fielding focusing on herself after a season of discovery, dysfunctional family dynamics, and a bit of debauchery. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Alexandra Daddario said her character finally knows who she is. And all it took was bringing a child into the world, discovering that Cortland Mayfair is her biological father, and embracing her demon boyfriend, Lasher.

Along with Mayfair Witches, Alexandra Daddario also had a small role in Koala Man. Created for Hulu by Michael Cusack, the American-Australian superhero animated sitcom premiered on January 9. Set in an alternate universe called Bushworld, the story follows an average middle-aged family man named Kevin Williams who decides to issue justice to the town of Dapto as the superhero Koala Man.
