Nick Offerman And Megan Mullally Are Joining Netflix’s Best Series
Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally will play married college professors in The Umbrella Academy Season 4.
It looks like Ron and Tammy II are getting back together again, as real-life married couple Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally are in final talks to join Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy for its fourth and final season. ScreenRant reported on the possible casting news from Mullally’s Party Down Season 3 premiere interview, where she revealed, “I mean, the deal’s not quite closed but let’s just pretend it is” adding “[We start filming] in a couple of weeks.” It sounds like the deal is pretty much sealed, so we should expect to see the two in the upcoming season.
Mullally also offered insight into who they will be playing in The Umbrella Academy. Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally will be playing married college professors named Gene and Jean. It will be interesting to see how big of a role they play.
Along with Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally, Season 4 of The Umbrella Academy will likely bring back previous cast members Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, David Castañeda, and Ritu Arya. The successful Netflix show, adapted from the comic book series, follows a family of superhero siblings who work together to solve the death of their adoptive father and save the world. The fourth season will be the last and is reportedly adapting The Sparrow Academy arc from the comics, which currently remains unreleased.
While Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally’s most well-known collaboration is probably their dysfunctional relationship on Parks and Recreation, the two have appeared together in plenty of projects since then. However, we haven’t seen a live-action acting collab from the duo since the 2017 film Infinity Baby, so it’ll be great to see them reunite on-screen again. The two have plenty of projects of their own, so it’s probably not too common that they can both land roles in the same project.
Most recently, Offerman took over the entertainment news cycle for his devastating and nuanced portrayal of Bill in HBO’s The Last of Us. The episode was easily one of the best TV episodes of the year so far, and everyone is expecting Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett to win all the awards come Emmy season. Apparently, we have Megan Mullally to thank for Offerman taking the memorable role, as she convinced him to do it.
As for Megan Mullally, she recently appeared in the rebooted third season of the forever underrated Party Down series, which is now streaming on Starz. Mullally will also be playing a role in another major upcoming series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, for Disney+. Mullally will play Alecto, a Fury who disguises herself as a math teacher at Yancy Academy.
If you can’t wait to see Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally in The Umbrella Academy, you should check out their recent projects to hold yourself over. The Last of Us episode with Offerman is truly gold and can currently be seen on HBO. Party Down is just as funny as ever and can be seen on Starz.
