Pedro Pascal Is Headed For The Biggest Billion-Dollar Franchise Of All Time?
Rumor has it that Marvel Studios wants to bring in Pedro Pascal.
The internet is doing the thing it does best again, and making wild speculations on Twitter about Pedro Pascal joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A since-deleted tweet from EmberOnMain succinctly states, “Disney wants Pedro Pascal in the MCU ASAP. That is all.” But a Tweet is just a tweet, so it’s safe to assume that no contracts have been signed by the Mandalorian star as of yet.
While both Pascal and Disney have worked together in the past on The Mandalorian, this rumor, while presently still just a rumor, does have legs to stand on. Pedro Pascal’s career got a real shot in the arm with his unexpected powerhouse performance in the post-apocalyptic The Last of Us, and Pascal would be a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While HBO’s The Last of Us isn’t necessarily occupying Marvel territory, there is definitely some overlap in the sense that hardened survivors of a global catastrophe are heroically moving forward to save humanity.
While the casting of Pedro Pascal in The Last of Us wasn’t necessarily well received before launch, he has won fans over in spades with his performance and portrayal of Joel in the highly successful six-episode run of the series. Pedro Pascal’s versatility makes him a likely candidate to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so we can only hope that this is the start of a long and fruitful relationship with the star and the franchise.
Now we have to ask ourselves the question that we all want answered: what character, or characters would Pedro Pascal portray in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Twitter user, Juicer, simply says “live action Spider-Man 2099,” while Ale Ortega states that Pascal would be the “best possible Dr. Doom.” User Blake371 simply says nothing, but rather posts a GIF of Ghost Rider bursting into flames.
So as we can plainly see, fans of both Pedro Pascal and the Marvel Cinematic Universe are enthusiastic about the possibilities. User Arachno-red claims to have felt this sentiment to be true for some time now, stating “I pretty much assumed that since the first season of Mandalorian dropped.” At this point in his career, the Massive Talent co-star has put his work in, but is guarded when he says that while he doesn’t necessarily want to be a top-billed star in movies, he is interested in being in movies in general.
At this point in time, we’re just speculating and getting excited, maybe unnecessarily, over some Tweets that have certainly planted the seed over the possibility of the Narcos star segueing his career into new and exciting territories — though the rumors seem to make sense. After all, The Mandalorian is a highly successful series, and Disney owns the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But just because these facts are true, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Pedro Pascal has any intentions of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or that an offer was even made in the first place.
That’s the unfortunate thing about rumors: if they’re proven to be false, then a lot of people who are excited about the possibility of Pedro Pascal teaming up with Marvel will be devastated. The flip side is that if there is some kernel of truth behind these Tweets, then a lot of Marvel fans are going to welcome Pedro Pascal into the franchise with open arms and warm wishes. Only time will tell us if these statements are more than just internet speculation.
