Tom Sizemore Rushed To Hospital In Critical Condition
Tom Sizemore is in critical condition after suffering a brain aneurysm.
Actor Tom Sizemore has been rushed to a hospital after being discovered unconscious at his home in Los Angeles. According to CNN, the Saving Private Ryan actor suffered a brain aneurysm and was eventually discovered by an unnamed individual, who called 911. Tom Sizemore is apparently in critical condition, with his spokesperson Charles Lago saying that his family had been informed but there were no further updates on the Strange Days actor.
Tom Sizemore is best known for a critically acclaimed run of films in the mid-1990s and early 2000s, including the Michael Mann crime thriller Heat (co-starring with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers (with Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis), and Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down (with Tom Hardy and Ewan McGregor, among many others). In addition to his most famous and critically applauded roles, Tom Sizemore is an enormously prolific actor, with (as of reporting) 230 credited roles on IMDb and another 33 upcoming.
Along with his film acting, Tom Sizemore has appeared in a wide variety of television programs, frequently as himself. Notably, he has appeared in a number of seasons of Celebrity Rehab, alongside NBA legend Dennis Rodman and musician Mackenzie Phillips. In addition to his reputation for portraying intense, often dark characters, Tom Sizemore’s issues with addiction are also well known. He has frequently had to deal with legal issues due to his substance use, as well as allegations of domestic abuse and (dismissed) accusations of sexual abuse.
According to Tom Sizemore himself, he began to earnestly seek sobriety after being given a talking-to by his Heat co-star Robert De Niro (who personally checked Sizemore into rehab). It is possible that his current medical issues are related to his previous history of substance abuse or exacerbated by them, but it is currently unknown whether that is actually the case.
In recent years, Tom Sizemore has appeared in offbeat projects like Showtime’s revival of David Lynch’s cult classic supernatural crime procedural Twin Peaks, along with Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Dern, David Duchovny, and Lynch himself (along with an enormous ensemble cast composed of both new and returning stars).
While the caliber and prominence of Tom Sizemore’s roles have largely diminished in recent years, he is still regarded as one of the finest actors of his generation and a defining character actor of the 1990s. As early as 1989’s Born on the Fourth of July, he went toe to toe with Tom Cruise in one of his most acclaimed dramatic roles, and he has frequently been singled out as a highlight of movies as disparate as Kevin Costner’s Western epic Wyatt Earp and the Val Kilmer science fiction film Red Planet.
