Ted Lasso Season 3—All We Know
Apple TV+'s hit show Ted Lasso returns on March 15, 2023 for its third and final season.
It’s been almost a year since Apple TV+’s hit show Ted Lasso Season 2 ended, and fans are anxious for the Season 3 premiere. The story of an American football coach who is hired to coach a struggling English soccer team is heading back to the field this March in what will be the comedy series’ final run.
When Apple TV+ original shows first launched, the company put a lot of money and effort into making sure these series were popular with audiences. While they had a few hits on their hands, nothing compared to what would be released nearly a year later—an underdog show called Ted Lasso sparked something within audiences that quickly boosted this quirky comedy/drama to the top of the charts.
Now, Ted Lasso will wrap up with its upcoming Season 3, and though the fans (and creators) of the show are sad to see it go, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.

THE TED LASSO SEASON 3 TEASER TRAILER CONFIRMS A MARCH 15 RELEASE DATE
On February 14, Apple TV+ dropped the official teaser trailer for Ted Lasso Season 3. The trailer featured everyone’s favorite members of the AFC Richmond soccer team writing “Believe” on bright yellow paper with a blue Sharpie. Roy Kent, Jamie Tartt, Keeley Jones, Rebecca Welton, and Sam Obisanya all appeared working hard on their posters in the locker room, which they then taped up on the wall for Ted and Coach Beard to see when they walked in.
“If seeing is believing,” Ted says, “I believe we’ve been seen.”
It’s a charming teaser that perfectly matches the tone of this fuzzy-feeling show. What’s more, the trailer gave fans some desperately needed information: the release date of Ted Lasso Season 3, which will be March 15. Fans can watch the series on Apple TV+.
THINGS ARE FALLING APART IN SEASON 3, BUT TED GIVES IT HIS BEST SHOT ANYWAY
Ted Lasso editors A.J. Catoline and Melissa McCoy promised full arcs from every character in Season 3 during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, hinting that the character arcs of Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) and Nate Shelley (Nick Mohammed) will be the best.
Season 3 will see Rebecca exploring her romantic relationship with team player Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh) while simultaneously steering her professional relationship with her ex-husband (and owner of West Ham United Football Club) Rupert Mannion (Anthony Head).
Meanwhile, “Wonder Kid” Nate has surprisingly left Richmond and become the series’ leading antagonist after the Season 2 finale saw him throw a tantrum where he stormed off the soccer pitch, tore down Ted’s “Believe” sign, and began working for West Ham United. Despite the audience’s intense dislike for the degradation of the character, McCoy says they hope the audience begins to nurture a love-hate relationship with the character because Mohammed plays him so well.
As for the other characters, Ted Lasso Season 3 will explore Roy Kent’s journey as an assistant coach, as well as Keeley’s arc as the boss at her own PR firm, and Ted’s ever amounting pressure at work combined with the challenges he faces back home. Despite everything he goes through in this next season, Ted will continue to give it his all.
ALL OF THE MAIN CAST WILL BE RETURNING FOR SEASON 3, AS WELL AS A FEW NEW FACES
All of Ted Lasso fans’ favorite characters will return for Season 3, and viewers will also be introduced to a selection of new blood. Of course, the titular character and producer of the series, Jason Sudeikis, will return to play Ted Lasso, as will Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard, and Brett Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent. The show will also see the return of Higgins (Jeremy Swift), Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster), and Keeley Jones (Juno Temple).
Despite being fired from the newspaper The Independent at the end of Season 2, journalist Trent Crimm will likely make an appearance in Ted Lasso Season 3. “Where is Trent Crimm gonna go?” Catoline teased.
In addition to the series regulars, Ted Lasso Season 3 will see the introduction of new characters on screen. Becky Ann Baker from Girls will play Ted’s mom, and Jodi Balfour from For All Mankind will play a new venture capitalist in the series.
SEASON 3 WILL BE THE LAST OF TED LASSO
Although the show is currently at the top of the charts as one of the most successful Apple TV+ series, Ted Lasso will end with Season 3. Though fans are sure to be sad to see the end of the series, showrunner Bill Lawrence says the show was only ever meant to be three seasons. Writers of the series planned it out to have a beginning, middle, and end, with Seasons 1 to 3, so continuing the show after that could end up giving the series a very different feel.
However, there is always a glimmer of hope. Ted Lasso was planned to end in Season 3 before Apple TV+, and the show’s creators knew how successful it would be. Apple TV+ has yet to promote the season as the final one, meaning that they could be leaving the door open, just in case they see the opportunity or reason to continue on with another season.
TED LASSO WAS FILMED IN LONDON
Season 2 of Ted Lasso ended on October 8, 2021, and Season 3 began filming in March 2022. While it’s unclear how long it took to film the show’s final season, we know that the series was still in production in October as Jeremy Smith tweeted he was “still filming #tedlasso.” It’s estimated that the series wrapped sometime in mid-November 2022, after sports commentator Arlo White tweeted that he had just finished his final day of filming for the series. The show has likely finished filming at this time and is either in post-production or is completely finished and awaiting its premiere date.
Ted Lasso Season 3 was filmed in London at the West London Film Studios in Hayes, Hillingdon, with the pitch scenes filmed at real sporting arenas in the area.
