Tom Holland Returning As Spider-Man And Marvel Has Massive Plans
Tom Holland is definitely returning for Spider-Man 4 and Marvel writers are currently working on the story.
After seeing Tom Holland swinging through the snow-blown New York skyscrapers at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have been waiting to find out when we would see him again. While there’s no official word on when he’d appear next, MCU mastermind Kevin Feige said more Spidey is on the way. Feige made comments to Entertainment Weekly, where he said “All I will say is that we have the story,” adding “We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now.”
It’s no surprise that the MCU will use Tom Holland again in the future. Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s marquee characters, and the billions of dollars the movies bring in means that they’re inevitably going to make more. The question is, where and when is his character going to show up next?
While Sony producer Amy Pascal has said they want to make a new trilogy of Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, it seems like those might be a long way off. If they don’t even have screenplays yet, it could be a while before they start filming and announce a release date. More than likely, we should expect to see Spidey make an appearance in an upcoming MCU project before then.
The most likely candidate would definitely be the upcoming Avengers films. Both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars are set to come out in 2025 and 2026, respectively. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man make an appearance in either film.
As the name implies, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will see the Avengers facing off against Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conquerer. It’s likely the Avengers will need as many heroes as they can get to defeat Kang, and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man would be a big help. It would definitely be a missed opportunity if we didn’t get to see him in action in one of the biggest Marvel projects in the coming years.
Even if Tom Holland doesn’t show up in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, it seems very likely that he would show up in Avengers: Secret Wars. Spider-Man was a big part of the comics that the movie is pulling material from, so it would make sense for his character to show up. With Spidey showing up in every Avengers film since making his MCU debut, his presence would certainly be missed in these two movies.
There’s no word on if Tom Holland is involved, but we will get to see the MCU version of Spider-Man show up again in the animated Spider-Man: Freshman Year in 2024. The Disney+ series is set to be the origin story for Spidey, acting as a prequel. Right now, the only confirmed cast members are Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Paul F Thompkins as Bentley Whitman.
If you want to revisit Tom Holland’s most recent MCU adventure, you can stream Spider-Man: No Way Home on Starz. The massive blockbuster sees Peter Parker calling on Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to erase people’s memories of his secret identity, only to accidentally open the multiverse in the process. In the meantime, stay tuned here for more news on Holland’s upcoming MCU appearances.
