See Timothee Chalamet As Nightwing For New Batman Movie
Timothee Chalamet would be an incredible Nightwing in the upcoming Batman: The Brave and the Bold, so we used AI to imagine what it would look like.
Timothee Chalamet is one of the brightest young stars in Hollywood, but the Giant Freakin’ Robot team has used AI to imagine the actor in a darker role: Nightwing. When James Gunn announced the upcoming slate of new DCU films, Batman: The Brave and the Bold was a marquee title. The film looks to bring members of the Batman Family to the big screen, and if that includes Nightwing, Chalamet could be a great fit.
Giant Freakin’ Robot utilized an AI art program to render the portrait of Timothee Chalamet as Nightwing, capturing the actor’s dark hair and moody gaze. The young actor has been a hot ticket item since his breakout performance in 2017’s award-winning film Call Me By Your Name. Chalamet bounces back and forth between arthouse indies and big-budget blockbusters, but hasn’t ventured into the realm of superheroes.
Though the superhero market is wide open for the actor, getting Timothee Chalamet into the Nightwing tights may prove to be a challenge. As reported by Deadline, Chalamet received some career advice from Leonardo DiCaprio when the two were filming Netflix’s apocalyptic satire Don’t Look Up. “No hard drugs and no superhero movies,” recited Chalamet.
Like Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothee Chalamet has been selective with his roles, a strategy that has served the young actor well. He added in his interview that his goal was not to “cash in” on his newfound fame. If DC Studios has any hope of getting Timothee Chalamet suited up as Nightwing, they will need compelling material.
According to James Gunn, compelling material is the name of the DC Studio’s new game. Gunn vowed that DC would no longer succumb to the blockbuster standard practice of putting tentpole films into production before scripts are completed. A rekindled focus on writing will, in theory, improve the quality of DC’s projects and could attract reluctant stars like Timothee Chalamet to take on fan favorite characters like Nightwing.
Gunn teased that The Brave and the Bold would focus on the relationship between Batman and his son, Damian Wayne, who moonlights as Robin. The Batman Family also often includes Batgirl and Nightwing, but which characters will compose the crime fighting team in the upcoming film has not been disclosed. Timothee Chalamet has the star power and broodiness to pull off the troubled Nightwing, but his interest in the project may vary well hinge on its script.
The history of Nightwing goes back to 1960s Superman comics, but the version fans know and love today emerged in 1984 when Dick Grayson hung up his Robin tights and assumed the new identity during the “Judas Contract” storyline as leader of the Teen Titans. Actor Brenton Thwaites brought Nightwing to live action in the recently canceled Titans. As new management looks to revamp the DCU, a star like Timothee Chalamet could very well top the shortlist for the part of Nightwing.
But before Timothee Chalamet gets any big ideas about playing Nightwing, the actor has a big year of press tours to tackle. 2023 will see the actor star as Roald Dahl’s wacky chocolatier in the film Wonka, which explores the origins of the title character. Chalamet will also return to Arrakis in Dune: Part Two, the follow-up to director Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s esteemed science fiction epic.
Timothee Chalamet may have reservations about becoming a crime fighter, but there is no doubt that he looks the part of Nightwing. We will provide more details about The Brave and the Bold, and any potential Chalamet involvement, as they unfold.
