Tinkerbell Is A Drug Addict In Crazy New Peter Pan Movie

Get ready for your childhood to be ruined. According to a recent tweet by Film Updates, “The upcoming PETER-PAN-inspired horror movie will feature a ‘heavily obese’ Tinkerbell who’s ‘recovering from drugs.’” Now that doesn’t sound very magical …
This strange news is reported in further detail by The Hollywood Reporter, which explains that this upsetting-sounding Peter Pan story is just one of many upcoming low-budget horror movies from Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the writer and director of the bizarrely buzzy Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey slasher flick. In other words: Tinkerbell won’t be the only beloved kids’ story character to be ruined.
Frake-Waterfield has an “entire universe” of gory, X-rated films using childhood stories planned out, continuing the reign of terror he started in Blood and Honey. Films like Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare will reimagine Tinkerbell as a much darker, sadder version of herself that we’re pretty sure can’t be perked up by thinking “wonderful thoughts” like she can in the book and Disney movie.
In addition to Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, Frake-Waterfield also has plans to turn Bambi into “a vicious killing machine” in Bambi: The Reckoning. This is also something he is hoping to turn into a series of crossovers with, as fans suggest, fights like Bambi versus Pooh.
But just how is this young director able to ruin – I mean, adapt – all these childhood stories? Well, you can thank the public domain for that. Characters like A. A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh and James Matthew Barrie’s Peter Pan and Tinkerbell are no longer copyrighted, and therefore can be used by other writers in whatever way they choose.
The only real limitation that Frake-Waterfield has is that Disney’s versions of Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and Bambi are still under copyright, so therefore his characters and stories cannot have even the slightest overlap or similarities to them. Other than that, anything is possible in these ultra-low-budget films, which are catching on like wildfire with audiences online.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey hasn’t even been released yet, but the entire universe Frake-Waterfield is creating has already gone viral online. While it isn’t clear yet what exactly Peter Pan and Tinkerbell will be doing in their twisted tale, Pooh and his buddy Piglet will be crashing through Hundred Acre Wood after being abandoned by Christopher Robin.
Oh, and did I mention that they are also cannibals in this story? Before the film even begins, the fearsome twosome has already eaten poor, depressed Eeyore alive – and that’s not even the worst thing that happens.
While Frake-Waterfield knew that his demented versions of Pooh, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and Bambi may get some attention due to their shocking nature, he reportedly had no idea it would get this big. According to another Hollywood Reporter article, “[the response] was 100 times what I thought it was going to be.”
Without all the hype, the director’s twisted take on Winnie the Pooh would barely have been a blip on the world’s radar, and may not even have made it to anything but the most obscure streaming platforms. Peter Pan and Tinkerbell may never even have gotten a gory movie deal out of it at all. But with all this horrified fascination about what could be next for their beloved childhood heroes, Frake-Waterfield has audiences in the palm of his bloody hand, with the film now expected to open in thousands of theaters all over the globe.
