Exclusive: Meet The Parents 4 In Development With Original Cast And Director
Meet the Parents 4 is being produced with the original cast and director Jay Roach returning.
It has been quite some time since we have seen Ben Stiller in his role as Greg Focker. In fact, the last movie in the series was Little Fockers, which was released in 2010. Now, through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that Meet the Parents 4 is being produced with the original cast and Jay Roach returning to direct.
While most of the original cast was involved in Little Fockers, there was the addition of Jessica Alba as the drug representative that Robert De Niro‘s Jack Byrnes assumed was in an affair with Stiller’s Greg. Naturally, things worked out in the end, and Greg took care of Jack as he was suffering from cardiac arrest. Little Fockers followed a timeline of five years after the events of Meet the Fockers, which we would assume might be along the same lines of time passed if not more for Meet the Parents 4.
Little Fockers was the least successful movie in the franchise, as it made $310.7 million against a budget of $100 million. While that is certainly not that bad of a box office draw, both Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers were far more lucrative in their earnings. Despite Little Fockers pulling in the least amount of money, the franchise has proven to be quite successful, which is why it makes sense that Meet the Parents 4 is going forward.
Little Fockers was also the only movie in the series that was not directed by Jay Roach. Little Fockers was taken over by Paul Weitz, who has famously directed American Pie, Fatherhood, and Down to Earth. The deviation in directing style could be why the third movie made the least amount at the box office, as Jay Roach was responsible for the first two movies. Well, now he is returning along with the cast for Meet the Parents 4.
John Hamburg was also the writer on all three movies, so we would bet that he is going to also be brought back for Meet the Parents 4. Hamburg and Jay Roach have clearly been quite successful together in the previous movies, and now they are likely to reunite for the fourth film in this franchise. We hope to see this sequel by next year, though we are not sure when production is set to take place.
As previously mentioned, the time jump from Meet the Parents 2 and 3 was five years. There was also a two-year jump from the first and second movies. Considering that the time seems to increase by almost double, we would bank on Meet the Parents 4 taking place some 10 years after the events of Little Fockers. This is especially considering that it has been over 10 years since the last movie was released.
Meet the Parents 4 bringing everyone back from the original movie and Jay Roach could mean that we are going to be seeing some great comedy. Also, with all the grandchildren presumably in their teens, we are expecting some awkward moments to take place on the screen. We can’t wait to see Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro back together again.
