Brendan Fraser Returns As Rick O’Connell From The Mummy, See The Footage
Brendan Fraser surprised fans at the Prince Charles Cinema in London by showing up to a screening of The Mummy.
There has been plenty of speculation that Brendan Fraser could be returning to the world of The Mummy, which will be receiving a new reboot from the Batgirl directors. Fraser might have just added fuel to the fire of his involvement, as he surprised fans in London at a screening of The Mummy. Fraser appears in the video, which you can see below, wearing the iconic brown jacket and white scarf that Rick O’Connell sports in the movies.
The Prince Charles Cinema in London was showing The Mummy and The Mummy Returns in 35mm, and Brendan Fraser decided to floor the crowd by showing up and saying a few words. Naturally, everyone in the packed theater erupted in thunderous applause to see the man before them. Although he was also there to promote his role in The Whale, which he stated will be at that same cinema in February, it was great to see him looking once again like Rick O’Connell.
As previously mentioned, we reported that Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi are being tasked with directing the new reboot of The Mummy from Universal Pictures. We also added the exciting news that both Rachel Weisz and Dwayne Johnson were in talks to reprise their roles as Evelyn O’Connell and the Scorpion King, respectively. So far, Fraser has not confirmed his involvement, but he has stated that he would love to return to the role.
Brendan Fraser was interviewed by Deadline a few weeks ago about appearing in The Mummy reboot, where he stated, “I don’t think I’ve been this famous and unsalaried at the same time in my professional life, so sign me up.” Fraser became an icon in the 1990s when he starred in George of the Jungle and The Mummy franchise, though the injuries sustained from those movies left him to take a backseat from acting for quite some time.
Brendan Fraser is currently going through a bit of a renaissance, as he has impressed thus far with his role in The Whale. His performance as a 600-pound man who attempts to reconnect with his daughter has led to a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor, and an Academy Award for the same category. Fraser will also be starring in the upcoming Flowers of the Killer Moon movie by Martin Scorsese.
Though his first comeback movie was meant to be Batgirl, it was unceremoniously canceled, leaving his first comeback to be the highly regarded movie, The Whale. We also hope that we can report the news that Brendan Fraser is starring in The Mummy reboot soon.
For now, everyone can go see The Whale in theaters right now and see why Brendan Fraser is again one of the most talked about leading men in Hollywood. We hope that The Mummy reboot will also involve the man, as it would not be the same without Fraser. Also, with Rachel Weisz and Dwayne Johnson returning, it would be a safe bet that we are going to see Frasers’s Rick O’Connell again.
