See David Harbour As A Lousy Ghost In Trailer For New Beetlejuice Rip-Off
David Harbour stars as a ghost in We Have a Ghost, which looks like a Beetlejuice and Ghostbusters ripoff.
David Harbour is coming off one of his best movies, Violent Night, which showcased the beloved actor as a violent Santa Claus with a heart of gold, kinda. Now, he is set to star in a Netflix-produced movie that is part Beetlejuice and part Ghostbusters called, We Have a Ghost. Harbour stars as a ghost named Ernest that tries to scare everyone into leaving his home, though he surprisingly becomes a social media hit.
The above trailer for We Have a Ghost showcases David Harbour as Ernest, who cannot scare anyone to save his life or the life he once lived. He is recorded by Jahi Di’Allo Winston’s character, who tells his family about the ghost they have in their attic. They use the recording to turn Ernest into a social media hit, which draws some unwanted attention from some sort of organization that is meant to hunt him down.
The best aspect of the trailer is seeing Jennifer Coolidge, who is set to portray the part of the medium tasked with contacting Ernest (David Harbour). She does have a hilarious moment where she jumps out of a window after Ernest scares her with a melting face. There are elements of Ghostbusters as well when Dr. Leslie Monroe (Tig Notaro) comes in with her ghost-blasting weapons to take down Ernest.
From the trailer, we do see that David Harbour is not going to be speaking, at least not in the beginning, and he also does not remember how he died. Now it’s up to his new friends to discover how he died. Although the movie has elements of both Beetlejuice and Ghostbusters, it does take a modern spin on things, by incorporating our social media-driven world.
We Have a Ghost stars David Harbour, Jennifer Coolidge, Anthony Mackie, Tig Notaro, Tom Bower, Niles Fitch, Taylor Shurte, Erica Ash, and many more. Writer and director Christopher Landon took on both duties for this new spooky movie, with the script being adapted from a short story by Geoff Manaugh. Landon famously wrote Freaky, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, and Happy Death Day 2U.
Though We Have a Ghost is clearly bringing in more humor, we can see the horror influences within, especially when David Harbour’s Ernest melts his face. The movie, though ripe with elements of other properties, does look like it might be fun to watch. Harbour has certainly been cast in some interesting movies lately, and this one could become a Halloween classic like Violent Night has become a Christmas classic.
We Have a Ghost will be released on Netflix on February 24 and looks to have the kind of silly and great cast that could make the movie a hit on the streaming platform. It’s not often that movies with a fun Halloween theme are released this early in the year, but we are excited to see this one. David Harbour is one of the best actors currently, and the trailer showcases some great moments of him going through walls and scaring everyone around him.
