See Bryan Cranston As DC’s New Commissioner Gordon
Fan art has placed Bryan Cranston in the role of Commissioner Gordon.
Bryan Cranston is currently only of the biggest actors in the entire world, and he has now been fan cast into one of the roles he should have been placed in years ago. Some new fan art from @horrific.heroes places Bryan Cranston in the role of Commissioner Gordon, and it looks spectacular. The image, which you can see below, looks spot on.
While Bryan Cranston looks amazing as Commissioner Gordon, we know that his being asked to appear as so in the DC Universe is quite slim. The current Batman is being helmed by Matt Reeves, who has already seen fit to place famed actor Jeffrey Wright into the role of James Gordon. While Wright’s Gordon has yet to achieve commissioner status, we would imagine he will do so during Reeves’s planned universe.
James Gunn is building out his DC Universe and plans to release that plan soon, which could involve his own version of Batman coming into the fold. The rumors are that Gunn is planning to establish his own version of the Justice League, which would likely include Batman. Reeves’s Batman likely would not exist in the same universe, leaving the door open for a new Commissioner Gordon to enter, which could be Bryan Cranston.
Bryan Cranston has two big roles coming up, which could leave the door open for him to be added to DC as Commissioner Gordon. The first role is starring alongside Henry Cavill in the spy thriller, Argylle. Cranston is also set to star in the new Wes Anderson movie, Asteroid City, which boasts a cast that includes Tom Hanks, Scarlet Johansson, Edward Norton, Maya Hawke, and so many more.
We did report that Bryan Cranston was being targeted for a Marvel role around six months ago, but that has yet to be confirmed. Cranston could theoretically appear in both DC and Marvel, but we would imagine that DC landing him as the long-standing Commissioner Gordon would be a high priority. Much like Gary Oldman, Cranston would likely sign on for multiple movies.
The current state of Batman is going quite well with Reeves at the helm, but Bryan Cranston might also appear as Commissioner Gordon in another spinoff. There is the Todd Phillips Joker 2 movie to think about, and how it could bring in more known Batman characters. We know that Bruce Wayne was shown in the movie, along with Thomas and Martha Wayne.
Joker 2 is also bringing in Harley Quinn, which means that Bryan Cranston could also appear as Commissioner Gordon. This is just wild speculation at this point, but it is quite exciting to think about Cranston taking on such a prestigious DC role.
For now, everyone can patiently wait to see Bryan Cranston in Asteroid City, which has a release date of June 23, 2023. We do love the above fan art though, especially because it transforms Cranston into the Batman: The Animated Series version of Commissioner Gordon. We would love to see the man cast in that role.
