See Brie Larson Doing One-Armed Pushups In A Skirt
Brie Larson showed off her immense strength on Instagram by doing one-handed pushups in a skirt.
They don’t call her Captain Marvel for no reason. Brie Larson just posted a video on Instagram of herself doing one-armed push-ups, which she said is “what happened an hour after having a [Hiball Energy Drink].”
In the first picture in the post, Brie Larson takes a selfie with a can of Hiball Energy as she smiles at her phone in a purple t-shirt tucked into her jeans. After swiping to the left, you can see the actress in a dark, plaid, calf-length skirt and brown, patterned sweater vest as she proceeds to do a push-up using only one arm in a hallway. She explains to those around her that the trick is to balance your weight and twist at the right moment but admits that it is something “that you can’t do until you can do it.”
It is no surprise that Brie Larson can do such a demanding physical exercise since she had to get (and stay) in great shape to play Captain Marvel in several of Marvel’s film projects. Rather than impressing people with her strength, however, she tends to get a lot of hate for it sometimes.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Brie Larson was asked how long she will continue to play Captain Marvel in the MCU, to which she responded sarcastically, “I don’t know. Does anyone want me to do it again?”
When it was first announced that Brie Larson would play Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel, fans were immediately up in arms. The problem wasn’t necessarily that they expected Captain Marvel to be a man (in the original comics, the hero has been portrayed as male, female, and alien, so there was no arbitrary gender-swapping here), but that Larson seemingly didn’t fit their idea of what a superheroine should be.
Some critics complained about her lack of smiles in the trailer for the 2019 film while others said that Brie Larson is sexist toward men because of her attitude toward them during her press conferences. Both things are often construed as sexism toward women and toward Brie Larson herself.
Brie Larson has long been an advocate for diversity and women’s rights, and she, therefore, knows that it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. Not everyone is going to agree with her stance, and she has learned to let the criticism and negativity roll off her back without dwelling on it. “I don’t have time for it, you know?” she said.
“I have genuinely never needed to look at the internet to explain to me who I am,” Brie Larson added.
Brie Larson, however, has friends to rely on, like Jessie Ennis, who she described as “the other half of my best friend necklace” in a past Instagram post. The two even hosted a podcast together in 2021 called Learning Lots, in which the pair chatted about trending topics and pop culture and tried to come up with answers to life’s deep questions.
Back in 2017, Brie Larson also said that fellow actresses Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence “saved her life” by giving her someone to talk to when she was feeling isolated and alone while promoting Room, the film that made her a breakout star. According to Hello Magazine, Stone and Lawrence sent her encouraging texts and emails to lift her spirits, and the former even gave her an inspirational book and other sweet keepsakes before the Academy Awards in 2016.
So, Brie Larson has plenty of friends to lift her up and no time to devote to the haters who try to make her feel bad about herself online. What she does have time for, apparently, is staying in tip-top, butt-kicking shape.
