Sensational Hispanic actress Eva Mendes has had a successful career in Hollywood for over 20 years, and the star is still shining bright. In a recent Instagram post, Mendes shared a photo of herself looking radiant in a shimmering Vivienne Westwood dress. The star may be taking it easy in Hollywood these days, but she can still turn heads on a red carpet.
Eva Mendes shared a quote attributed to the late fashion designer in the caption to the photo, “I’m not trying to do something different; I’m trying to do the same thing but in a different way.” Vivienne Westwood passed away on December 29th, at the age of 81, after having spent her career helping to create the British fashion scene, focusing on taking punk fashion into the world of high-end couture. The rebellious and socially active designer has long been a favorite of Hollywood stars and musical icons alike.
The shimmering green dress Eva Mendes is wearing, with its harsh lines at the top and along the bust, demonstrates Westwood’s heightened punk aesthetic. Not just content to design her own clothing, the actress also has a line of bed linens and dinnerware available through Macy’s.
With all of the work in running her own business, it makes sense that Eva Mendes has mostly stopped acting, focusing on her young family with Ryan Gosling, instead of fighting over leading roles. The gorgeous pair have two daughters, 9 and 7, which helps explain why Mendes first role after a seven-year hiatus was as a yoga instructor on the children’s program Bluey in 2021. How cool would it be for a five-year old to hear their own mom’s voice on a cartoon?
Prior to her acting hiatus, Eva Mendes was on a roll with 2001’s Training Day her breakout role, setting off a long stretch of co-starring in high-profile films, including 2 Fast 2 Furious, Stuck on You, Ghost Rider, The Spirit, The Other Guys, Girl in Progress, and The Place Beyond The Pines. That level of success is pretty good for someone that started out in Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror, and who was at one point most famous for being the female voice on Will Smith’s hit song, “Miami.”
Today, Eva Mendes is still on her acting hiatus, with no announced projects for the time being. Once her children are a little older, maybe we’ll get to see Mendes demonstrate her on-screen talent again, chances are the Fast and Furious franchise will still be ongoing at that point.
