Exclusive: Krysten Ritter Jessica Jones Reboot Series Filming Next Year
Kevin Feige has approved Krysten Ritter's return to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in a new series, which will start filming next year.
There was plenty of speculation surrounding the return of many of the Netflix Marvel shows that had been canceled and if they would be revived at some point, though Daredevil is the only one that has so far. Well, through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that Krysten Ritter is starring in a Jessica Jones reboot, which will start filming next year. This news also adds to the rumor we posted indicating she might also be appearing in the new Daredevil series.
Krysten Ritter recently posted some images of her training at the gym, while wearing a Daredevil shirt, leading everyone to believe that she would be returning as Jessica Jones. While it has not been confirmed that she is going to be appearing in the Daredevil series as the character, we have now learned that a reboot series is on the way. Also, Kevin Feige is the one who has approved this new series, meaning that Ritter’s Jones could play more of an integral part in the MCU.
Charlie Cox found his way into the MCU when he appeared as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. We are not sure if that means that Krysten Ritter is going to be reprising her role as Jessica Jones in some other Marvel entry too, but we would bet that she might be appearing somewhere else sooner rather than later. Finn Jones has also been lobbying for quite some time to reprise his role as Iron Fist, though we are not sure if Marvel will be bringing him back.
With Charlie Cox returning as Daredevil and Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones, it could mean that the rest of The Defenders might find their way back to Disney+ too. Jon Bernthal is also set to return in the Daredevil series, which leaves out Luke Cage and Iron First. While we are not sure if Marvel plans to recast those characters, we are more than happy that Ritter is returning to her best role.
Another thing to think about is who would be the potential villain for the new reboot series, though most of us would want to see Killgrave return in some capacity. Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones benefited a great deal from having David Tennant in the series as Killgrave. Tennant was masterful in his performance as the villain, and how he was able to control Jones.
Disney and Marvel might not want their new series to go the same route, apart from having Krysten Ritter return as Jessica Jones, so it is likely we are going to see a brand-new villain appear. We could also see a shared villain take the stage, one that exists in both Daredevil and Jessica Jones, which could be Kingpin. Though he “died” at the end of Hawkeye, we know that Vincent D’Onofrio is going to be coming back in the Echo series.
There are plenty of other MCU villains that could stake their claim as being the big baddie for Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, and we would imagine that Marvel is going to be picking a good one. Either way, we are excited to see Ritter back as the powerful Jones.
