Pick For The Next James Bond Named
Former James Bond actor, George Lazenby, has publicly stated that Liam Hemsworth is his pick to take over as the next 007.
Everyone is wondering who the next James Bond will be, but if former Bond George Lazenby had his way, it would be a fellow Aussie. Specifically, it would be Liam Hemsworth. Lazenby told TMZ that he thinks Hemsworth has the looks, experience, and ambition to take on the role.
As far as age and looks go, Liam Hemsworth certainly seems like he would be up for the task of playing James Bond. The Australian actor is currently 32 years old, so that would give him plenty of time to play Bond in numerous films. It makes sense that they would want to cast a younger actor in the role so they don’t have to replace him anytime soon.
Daniel Craig finally retired from the role of James Bond after 2021’s No Time to Die. Craig was one of the best iterations of Bond with Casino Royale and Skyfall being some of the best Bond movies ever released. Whoever replaces him will have some big shoes to fill.
There have been a ton of names tossed around for James Bond ever since it was announced that No Time to Die would be Craig’s final outing as the character. Some popular choices have been Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who is rumored to be a frontrunner), Henry Cavill, Rene-Jean Page, Tom Hardy, and Idris Elba. While Liam Hemsworth hasn’t been a name that comes up in many fan castings, George Lazenby is certainly entitled to throw a name in the ring.
Of course, the choice of the next James Bond actor will be up to Bond producers Barabara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. As the stewards of the franchise, they’re the only ones who truly know who will end up nabbing the role, and they may not have even decided yet. Casting a Bond actor is likely a lengthy process, and with No Time to Die‘s release being so recent, they’re likely not in a huge hurry to rush the decision.
It is interesting that Liam Hemsworth and Henry Cavill are names that are being brought up for the James Bond role, as their careers were recently entwined in a very different way. Cavill is leaving one of his best roles as Geralt of Rivia and passing the torch to Liam Hemsworth in Netflix’s The Witcher series. While fans are not at all happy about it, Hemsworth’s responsibilities to a new franchise might keep him too busy for a James Bond role.
Liam Hemsworth is also lined up to star in a film with Russell Crowe titled Land of Bad. Land of Bad will follow an Air Force drone pilot who has to help a Delta Force team survive after their mission goes wrong and they become trapped without weapons. Land of Bad is directed by William Eubank, who also co-wrote the script with David Frigerio. The film comes out on June 10 and also stars Milo Ventimiglia, Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, Daniel MacPherson, Gunner Wright, Robert Rabiah, Chika Ikogwe, Joey Vieira, George Burgess, Eric Lee, and Andre Martinez.
