Over the last year, so many changes have been made to the DCU’s future film lineup that it’s hard to track what is still happening and what has been canceled. Ezra Miller’s upcoming superhero blockbuster, The Flash, will, in fact, be heading to theaters this June despite many bumps in the road raising questions on whether the film would actually make it to the silver screen. Despite the controversy, The Flash will premiere as scheduled, and according to The Direct, we’ve also got our first look at Barry Allen’s new costume.
The suit for the upcoming movie differs slightly from Ezra Miller’s previous costumes for the Flash. In other DCU films, Miller wore super suits that were more armor-based and rigid. This new design is sleeker and more fitting to Miller’s frame, clinging to their skin the way a diving suit would. This new design that opts for more flexibility could hint at the type of action audiences will see in the upcoming film.
Since this merchandise is DC official, the Bluetooth speaker gives fans the first in-depth look at what Ezra Miller’s The Flash will look like in their upcoming movie. The image shows Barry Allen dressed in his classic red suit, topped with his iconic helmet featuring lightning bolts above his ears. The Flash’s lightning symbol is emblemed in the center of his chest, and bright golden electric veins shoot out from the center, wrapping around his body.
Despite the high audience expectations (and high test screening scores), not much is known about Ezra Miller’s The Flash plot, even though the release is only six months away. But a first look at the Flash’s new super suit can give us a few clues as to what to expect, and it came from a surprising source. The new Flash outfit can be seen on a The Flash-themed Bluetooth speaker sold at Walmart, where Barry Allen’s The Flash is printed in his new armor on the box.
While an armor-based costume might be better suited for combat, a sleek, skin-tight suit like the one seen on the Bluetooth’s packaging could be better suited for speed… Or even multiverse traveling? Although the plot for Ezra Miller’s The Flash is still unknown, we know that the movie will star both Ben Affleck and Micheal Keaton as Batman, suggesting that the multiverse will be a major part of this film.
Ezra Miller is set to star in the DCU’s first film featuring The Flash in a major role. Miller first appeared as the Scarlet Speedster in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and subsequently reprised the role for Suicide Squad (2016) and Justice League (2017). While Miller had minor roles that merely introduced the character in these films, the upcoming The Flash is expected to dive into the character’s origin even deeper as well as introduce a brand new direction to the DCU.
In addition to Ezra Miller starring as Barry Allen and Keaton and Affleck as Batman, The Flash will also star Michael Shannon as General Zod, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, and Ron Livingston as Harry Allen. The film is directed by Andy Muschietti and was written by Christina Hodson, based on the story by Joby Harold.
Audiences will be able to watch Ezra Miller as The Flash in theaters starting June 16, 2023.
