Jeremy Renner Accident Is Now A Criminal Investigation?
TMZ reports that police arriving upon the scene of Jeremy Renner's accident in Nevada treated the area like a crime scene.
Jeremy Renner was the victim of an apparent snow plow accident that has left him hospitalized in “critical but stable” condition, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the Hawkeye star is the victim of a crime. Reporting on the first details from the incident, TMZ says that Renner was driving a Snowcat vehicle which accidentally ran over his leg. But the authorities reportedly believe the Snowcat includes safety features which should have rendered such an accident impossible.
TMZ says the helicopter that airlifted Renner to the hospital arrived around 9:50 am on Sunday morning. Leaving the possibility open that what happened to Jeremy Renner was a crime, the police arrived on the scene at 8 pm Sunday night and impounded the Snowcat.
Details reported by Daily Mail could suggest that Jeremy Renner could have been less of a victim of crime, and more of a victim of wear and tear. The site reports that Renner’s Snowcat vehicle is a Pistenbully groomer; a model old enough that it is no longer listed as being for sale on Pistenbully’s website. They also write that on secondhand sites around the net, the type of Pistenbully groomer Renner was driving is often described as “vintage.”
Regardless of whether or not what happened to Jeremy Renner was a crime, it was clearly very serious. The actor is reported to have lost a significant amount of blood, and while it seems likely the most significant injuries were to his leg, witnesses report he was injured in other parts of his body as well. A neighbor of Renner’s who is a doctor was able to apply a tourniquet to his leg before paramedics arrived.
The actor was using the Snowcat to clear the road near his family’s home, which was blocked in after a huge snowstorm on New Year’s Eve. Whether Jeremy Renner was a victim of an accident or a crime, the incident occurred about a quarter of a mile from his home. There were initially concerns paramedics wouldn’t be able to reach the area because of the snow, but thankfully they managed despite the challenges.
This news about Jeremy Renner comes two weeks out from the season 2 premiere of the crime thriller Mayor of Kingstown. Co-created by Taylor Sheridan of Yellowstone fame, Mayor of Kingstown finds Renner playing Mike McClusky, a power broker in the corrupt prison system. Critics haven’t been as kind to the show as they have to many of Sheridan’s other projects, but fan support nevertheless secured it a second season.
Meanwhile, we last saw Jeremy Renner in the role of Clint Barton in the Disney+ Marvel series Hawkeye. While you never can tell exactly who will show up where in the MCU, at the latest Hawkeye is expected to return in 2025’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, if not sooner.
