See Henry Cavill As Marvel’s Sentry
Fan art has transformed Henry Cavill into Marvel's Sentry.
Henry Cavill has not had a good year. First, he quit his role as Geralt of Rivera in the Netflix series The Witcher and was fired from the role of Superman at DC. While he still has some future projects coming down the pipeline, none of them compared to these two iconic roles. However, one fan has taken the time to create fan art of him in the role of Marvel’s Sentry.
While there are no known plans to make a Marvel TV series or movie surrounding Sentry, Henry Cavill does seem like a good fit for the role. The character is something of a corrupted take on Superman, who starts out as a widely loved superhero but is eventually found to have another side, also known as The Void, which is a dark manifestation of The Sentry’s powers. The Void ended up killing around a million people in Manhattan before he was stopped when Reed Richards and Doctor Strange joined with The Sentry and managed to cause everyone in the world, themselves included, to forget about The Sentry entirely — causing the Void to vanish as The Sentry went inactive.
Unfortunately for the population of the earth that wishes to not be killed by rogue superhumans, The Sentry eventually regained his memories, and the Void returned as well. Henry Cavill does have the acting gravitas to play Sentry to a high degree.
While the casting of The Sentry might be just fantasy, there’s another role that Henry Cavill is reportedly being considered for. According to rumors, Cavill might play the role of Captain Britain in the upcoming movie Captain America: New World Order. The film, which is set to be released in 2024, will not be bringing back star Chris Evans, but will instead star Anthony Mackie, who took up the mantle of Captain America in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
This isn’t the first time a Henry Cavill fan has created work showing the displaced superman star in another role. Previously, an artist on Instagram showed what Cavill would look like as James Bond in a fake poster for No Time to Die. The artist stated they were inspired to make the poster thanks to Calvill’s similar role in the sadly forgotten spy movie The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
While The Man from U.N.C.L.E never took off, director Guy Ritchie is bringing Henry Cavill back to a spy role in the upcoming film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The film, which is based on the Damien Lewis book of the same name, will star Cavill as the head of the titular agency, playing alongside actress Eiza Gonzales as an elite sniper.
Of course, if rumors surrounding Henry Cavill’s on-set behavior are true, it might be difficult for the star to find many leading roles moving forward. Sources who are reportedly close to the production of The Witcher have claimed that Cavill did not leave the series of his own volition, as had been previously claimed. Rather, Cavill was allegedly considered a problem due to “sexist” and “toxic” behavior, which led to his being ousted.
