We broke the news yesterday that Dwayne Johnson was in advanced talks to star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, the man has paid tribute to Stan Lee, on Twitter and Instagram, the godfather of Marvel. However, in his beautiful tribute, which you can see below, one could make the argument that Johnson is fueling the rumors of his upcoming Marvel casting.

We understand that just paying tribute to Stan Lee could simply be that, but at a time when the rumor mill is spinning about Dwayne Johnson coming over, it has made the world raise a “People’s Eyebrow” at the news. DC is in a bit of a flux, and we do know that Johnson is not going to be part of the grander plan laid out by James Gunn and Peter Safran. So, with so many Marvel heroes to choose from, it was only a matter of time before The Rock made his way into the grand world of the MCU.

Dwayne Johnson does include a Black Adam shout-out in his tribute, though that could just be him still promoting the movie, as it was just released. Still, it would make sense for him to leave DC only to be brought in with open arms to the MCU. One hero he could take on, that has similar powers to Black Adam, is Sentry.

Sentry is one of the more explosive Marvel heroes, and one that fans have been begging to see. With the upcoming Fantastic Four movie happening, and Sentry being a close ally of Reed Richards, we could see Dwayne Johnson fit nicely into that role. However, Johnson might also want to keep the bad guy guise on and be cast in one of the most sought-after Marvel roles: Doctor Doom.

Now, we understand that many people would not be on board with casting Dwayne Johnson as Doctor Doom, but it could end up working out. Johnson is one of the most popular action stars currently, and Victor von Doom could bring out a side of acting that we have not yet seen from the man. Another of the Fantastic Four-centric roles he could play is The Thing, and he would then join our news about Dev Patel taking on the role of Reed Richards.

The Thing is an important part of the Fantastic Four and a hero that is also important to Marvel in general. Dwayne Johnson is big enough to just be painted into a rock-like creature, and everybody would certainly be fine with it. Either way, we are more than excited that Johnson is going to be heading to Marvel.

For now, we are all just going to have to fan-cast Dwayne Johnson in the countless Marvel hero or villain roles that we see fit. Once Johnson confirms that he is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we will be the first to let everyone know. DC is going to look quite foolish for letting Johnson walk away, but that same thing happened with Josh Brolin, and he became the most captivating villain that the MCU world has seen so far.
