See The Blade Runner Naked Snake Lady Do Her Dance At 67

When rumors were swirling of Ridley Scott making a sequel to his classic science fiction film, Blade Runner, there was much speculation about what that could entail. Would Harrison Ford return as Deckard? Would it be a direct follow-up to the first film, or just a sequel set in the same universe? Of all the questions fans pondered, I don’t think many of us thought, “I wonder if the naked snake lady will return?”

Of course, the Blade Runner Naked Snake Lady (Zhora, played by Joanna Cassidy) was shot dead in the first film, but that wasn’t going to stop the now 67-year-old actress from reminding us about her role through the magic of erotic dance.

That’s just what she posted, though considerably older than in the first Blade Runner. No bother. She still had the moves.

Yes, because viewers were once robbed of the experience of seeing Zhora’s “erotic reptile dance,” Cassidy kindly shared her version of the unfilmed scene. Her character was supposed to have a memorable snake dance scene in the film, but it was ultimately cut from the final version.

Cassidy spent weeks rehearsing the dance routine with a live snake. Plus, the Blade Runner set was designed with a sand dune and raised seating for the audience to look down on the performance. But Ridley Scott decided not to film the scene for reasons unknown.

But she was still in Blade Runner and when Deckard tracks her down, she attempts to escape by climbing the walls and ceilings using her replicant strength and agility. It leads to a pretty memorable action sequence. Naked Snake Lady didn’t get the first planned moment, but she did get one in the end.

And, no, Joanna Cassidy did not appear in the sequel film Blade Runner 2049. That being said, Joanna is still quite lovely even at 67, but this feels kind of like discovering that your grandmother has been taking stripperobics classes. But hey, work it if ya got it…
