The Flash Has Cut Another Huge DC Cameo

The fallout between DC, the Snyderverse, and everything that has come before James Gunn and Peter Safran took over is growing stronger. We had reported that Henry Cavill was meant to appear in The Flash, and has since seen his cameo cut, which makes sense as he is not going to be Superman for the DC Universe. Now, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was also meant to appear in the movie, and her big cameo has also been cut.
The Flash was meant to take on a story that symbolized the Flashpoint Paradox story, where The Flash goes into an alternate timeline that sees DC drastically changed, which is why it includes an older Batman in Michael Keaton. However, the big shakeup at DC is now scrapping nearly every plot point that was set to be used, and huge cameos and interconnected storylines are all being thrown out in lieu of the DC Cinematic Universe being reset.
This is not at all terrible news, as things at DC have long been stagnant, and James Gunn and Peter Safran seem to want to start fresh with their new plans for continuity. With Gunn’s proclivity for wanting to take the lesser-known characters and place a spotlight on them, it makes sense that big DC characters in The Flash are getting removed in favor of highlighting more unknown DC heroes like Blue Beetle. Granted, Blue Beetle is not unknown to dedicated comic readers, but to casual superhero genre moviegoers, he is not on any level like Superman is.
The Flash was also meant to set things up for the future of the DCU, though with the issues stemming from the multiple arrests of star Ezra Miller, we could see why Gunn and Safran want to cleanse the character moving forward. There are even rumors that state that Jason Momoa is going to stop being Aquaman after the next movie, and instead pivot to star in a solo movie or series revolving around Lobo. Gunn had teased the character on his Mastodon social media account, and it would make sense for the biggest bounty hunter in the DC Universe to now take center stage.
The announcement came that Henry Cavill would not be reprising his role as Superman in tandem with Gunn, leaving fans upset. But it could be that this new and younger Superman is going to build up his Rogues Gallery in the same way that Batman has. We could see him learning to be a hero while being hunted by someone like Lobo. Because of the many storylines and ways that Superman can be built up, it makes sense for Cavill and Gal Gadot to now be cut out of The Flash.
Wonder Woman 3 is no longer moving forward either, so it makes no sense for Galdot to have appeared in The Flash when she is also not going to be Wonder Woman in the future DC plans. Those new plans are going to be revealed next month, as Gunn announced on Twitter that his and Safran’s slate is now built. There could be a new Wonder Woman cast in the future, but Gadot’s time is certainly over.
