Fan Favorite Curb Your Enthusiasm Star Returning To Series
This article is more than 2 years old
Richard Lewis is returning for the 12th season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. The comedian and actor, who plays a fictionalized version of himself on the show, announced his return on Twitter. Lewis was only in one episode of Season 11, so hopefully, we’ll get to see more of him this time around.
Lewis hasn’t revealed how many episodes he’ll be in for Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 12. He has battled health issues throughout the show’s run, appearing on and off throughout the series. After recovering from multiple back and shoulder surgeries, it seems like Lewis is thankfully well enough to film more.
Larry David revealed back in August that Curb Your Enthusiasm would be returning for the 12th season during a TV Academy event for the Directors Guild Of America. The show, which started in 2000, has experienced long breaks between seasons, however, it has been more consistent since Season 10. The series ran nearly consecutively for eight seasons until 2011, before taking a break until the ninth season aired in 2017.
The show would take another hiatus until the aforementioned Season 10. HBO seems pretty content to let Larry David take his time when it comes to new seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm, so fans have learned to not count on consistency. There’s no word on a release date yet for the 12th season, but it appears that we likely won’t be seeing it until at least 2023.
Season 11 of Curb Your Enthusiasm was well-received by audiences and critics alike. It seems like not rushing the creative process certainly works in David’s favor, as the show puts out quality over quantity. Many consider it one of the better comedies on TV today, so fans are going to wait for Larry David regardless of how long it takes.
Details of Season 12 of Curb Your Enthusiasm also have yet to be announced, though presumably, series regulars like Jeff Garlin, JB Smoove, Cheryl Hines, and Susie Essman will return alongside Richard Lewis. As always, you can likely count on there being plenty of guest stars that Larry David will run into and be annoyed by throughout the season. Stars like Martin Scorsese, Ben Stiller, Christian Slater, David Schwimmer, and the cast of Seinfeld are amongst some of the notable guest stars who have appeared in the past.
Season 11 of Curb Your Enthusiasm saw the series get nominated for four Emmys in categories like Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series, and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Bill Hader. Although it didn’t take home any wins for the 2022 ceremony, the show has been nominated numerous times and taken home two wins. While David himself has been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, he has yet to take home an Emmy for his performance.
Undoubtedly, we’ll hear more news about the next season of Curb Your Enthusiasm soon enough. If Richard Lewis is back and filming, it means that they’re at least in the process of making episodes. We’ll keep you updated on Curb and other upcoming HBO shows.
