See Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker Reunite At The Walking Dead Series Finale
Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker reunited on the red carpet of The Walking Dead Finale.
After playing on-screen siblings, Daryl and Merle Dixon on The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus, and Michael Rooker reunited at the Red Carpet screening of the series finale. The event, which was held at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles on November 20th, saw the actors express their love and admiration for each other, to the delight of fans everywhere.
Speaking to the press, Michael Rooker said Norman Reedus is his favorite person in the world. “I love this man,” he told the interviewer. “We’ve been hanging for a long time and I adore him.” The mini-reunion drew to a close as the pair hugged it out. The rest of the Red Carpet content saw present and past cast members of The Walking Dead gather together to celebrate the show.
Fans were seated in the distance and could be heard cheering the names of their favorite actors, who talked about how they were feeling. When asked about his upcoming spinoff about Daryl Dixon he told Variety that it’s very different in tone. “The sound is different. There’s a lot of French,” he explained. The actor also said they’d be shooting in like castles. “It’s epic in scale, but it’s a very singular vision and very poetic.”
Unfortunately, Norman Reedus won’t be reuniting with Michael Rooker in the Daryl & Carol spinoff since his on-screen brother didn’t survive the series. A zombified Merle was put down by Daryl after the Governor murdered him in an episode called “This Sorrowful Life.” Although the pair only appeared together in a handful of Walking Dead episodes, like the Dixon siblings, they are bonded for life.
A few years ago, the pair appeared in an episode of Ride which saw the fictional brothers exploring the historic city of Birmingham Alabama. They also had some fun in Atlanta before arriving in Senoia for a Walking Dead reunion. Along with Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker, the unscripted series also featured appearances from Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Melissa McBride for a trip across Scotland, ComicBook reports.
Meanwhile, the series finale of The Walking Dead delivered the show’s biggest same-day audience in almost two years. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Norman Reedus starrer drew 2.27 million viewers for its final episode. Although it might be slightly shy of its ratings in the mid-2010s, it was still the largest number since February 2021, ushering in the “beginning” of the end for the long-running show.
The Walking Dead finale was up by 66% over the same-day average for the final stretch of episodes this fall. It was also up about 37% over the average for the entire 11th season. Additionally, the episode’s 0.66 rating among adults aged 18 to 49 was also the show’s best since February 28, 2021. Now that the flagship series is over, fans can look forward to Daryl & Carol created by Angela Kang and Scott M. Gimple. The story will feature Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride as Daryl and Carol.
