See Aubrey Plaza In A Stunning Backless Gown
Aubrey Plaza stuns in a backless black gown for the Governors Awards Ceremony.
Since first melting our hearts with her performance as the sassy and cynical April Ludgate on Parks and Recreation, Aubrey Plaza has continued to outdo herself every chance she gets. While we can’t wait to see what character she’ll transform into in the upcoming WandaVision spinoff, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, there are plenty of other opportunities to catch Plaza on our screens. Celebrating the critical success of her feature-length crime thriller, Emily the Criminal, Plaza took the red carpet by storm, donning a gorgeous black dress, before sharing the look for all her Instagram followers to see – in a post which you can see above.
The backless black dress also features a plunging neckline and a slit down the front which reveals the chic high heels the actress chose to wear out for the evening. The caption reveals that Aubrey Plaza was celebrating the success of her “little indie that could” at the Governors Awards ceremony. Dazzling not only us but also those closest to her, friends including her The White Lotus co-star Jennifer Coolidge shared their love for the look in the comments.
A real who’s who in the entertainment industry, not only did Coolidge comment “Extra Extra hot!! Wowie!!” (What a national treasure), but fellow The White Lotus Season 2 star Hayley Lu Richardson also admitted her undying love for Aubrey Plaza’s look, adding that she had been “opening and re-opening Instagram for the last hour just to stare at [the] photo.” The support and enthusiasm kept on coming from stars such as Megalyn Echikunwoke, Allison Janney, Natasha Lyonne, Gina Gershon, and Brittany Snow. As we always say – there’s no gas up better than one coming from your extremely famous peers!
As for the movie that gave Aubrey Plaza a reason to wear the uber-popular and sexy dress, the John Patton Ford penned and helmed Emily the Criminal tells the story of a recent college graduate who finds herself in the increasingly relatable place of struggling to find work and unable to pay off her mounting student debt. Seeking any way to make ends meet, she joins a credit card scam in which she poses as a shopper and purchases goods with stolen cards. Along with Plaza in the titular role, the movie also features Theo Rossi, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Gina Gershon, Jonathan Avigdori, Bernardo Badillo, John Billingsley, and Brandon Sklenar.
Following a premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in early 2022, the feature hit theaters in early August. Well received by critics and audiences alike, Emily the Criminal currently boasts a 94% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If you didn’t catch the Aubrey Plaza-led film during its theatrical run, there’s no need to worry as it will be making its way onto Netflix just in time for the holiday movie season this December.
There’s a lot for followers of Aubrey Plaza to be excited about these days. With her addition to the MCU now in writing and her appearance in the upcoming Francis Ford Coppola-helmed Megapolis, where she’ll star alongside Adam Driver, we’re bound to be seeing more gorgeous dresses where this came from.
