After 11 seasons, The Walking Dead is just a few days away from its series finale. While several fan-favorite characters will be seen again in various spinoffs, Norman Reedus recently alluded to a grisly fate for the entire cast by saying, “Everybody dies! No kidding.” The actor Reedus made the revelation in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, before assuring fans that he was only joking.

Along with fellow cast members, Lauren Cohan, Josh McDermitt, and Melissa McBride, the actor did give fans some real insight into The Walking Dead finale. “There are certain moments that are super sad. And there will be lots of screaming at the television kind of stuff,” he told the publication. He added that everyone went big in the last eight episodes so fans can expect a lot of adrenaline, emotion, and fear.

Lauren Cohan, who portrays Maggie Rhee, also hinted at themes of death, grief, and loss. Josh McDermitt, who plays Eugene Porter, said he hopes that The Walking Dead finale will do justice to every subset of the show’s audience. Melissa McBride, who brings Carol Peletier to life, was more reassuring than Norman Reedus, saying the concluding episodes will bring the series to a beautiful and moving conclusion.

Finale director and executive producer, Greg Nicotero also shared the creative process behind The Walking Dead finale, saying he really wanted to take the show back to the first three seasons. “We really wanted to make sure the walker threat was real, that the stakes were high. And that they needed to do what they could do to save their community,” he explained. Along with lots of emotion, he also promised viewers some fun action scenes.

Chief Content Officer and executive producer, Scott M. Gimple shared his creative counterpart’s sentiments. However, he added that viewers will be shocked by what unfolds in The Walking Dead finale. “I think they [viewers] might feel angry on behalf of our characters. It’s a frigging intense finale,” he told Entertainment Weekly. But while moments of pain are prevalent, he said there are moments of beauty, recognition of the journey, and love.

The Walking Dead series finale is set to air on November 20th. In the story, tensions are mounting between the core group of survivors and Commonwealth soldiers who are loyal to Governor Pamela Milton. The 22nd episode saw Eugene freed from his public execution by Mercer. His fate was decided for causing the death of Pamela’s son Sebastian.

The Commonwealth Army Commander’s turn against Pamela sets the stage for a civil war within the community. And now that the captured Negan and Ezekiel have wrestled themselves free of the physical labor forced upon them by Pamela, they will also be able to aid Mercer’s rebellion. The group of zombies that Aaron, Jerry, and Lydia are heading toward may also have a major role in The Walking Dead finale.

Based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard, the 11th season of The Walking Dead and its finale, uses material from issues #175–193. Once the flagship series ends, fans can look forward to the Daryl & Carol and spinoff series. Created by Angela Kang and Scott M. Gimple, the story will feature Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride as their characters Daryl and Carol.
