Krysten Ritter is back in leather, but not as Jessica Jones. The actress appeared in a cover shoot for Shon Magazine’s October 2022 issue wearing high leather boots and lavish upper clothing. She posted the caption on her Instagram: Dress for the job you want.
While it may not be in Jessica Jones’ trademark leather jacket, the actress still does look good in leather. Of course, fans are waiting to hear if Krysten Ritter will be making her anticipated return as the alcoholic private detective in a future MCU project. So far, there has been no news regarding Ritter’s return as Jessica Jones, nor if the character will even appear in the MCU.
If there is one project that Krysten Ritter would appear in, it would be the upcoming Echo series. At Disney’s D23 Expo, Kevin Feige confirmed that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio would appear in the Marvel Disney+ show starring Alaqua Cox, reprising her role as Maya Lopez from Hawkeye. The show is set to premiere on the streamer in mid-2023 and will be part of MCU phase 5.
With Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio appearing in Echo, it’s understandable that some of the former Marvel Netflix actors like Krysten Ritter will also appear. On May 25, 2022, Screen Geek reported that Ritter would return for a future MCU project though the report didn’t note which it would be. This correlated with our report that Ritter would reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the MCU.
At San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige unveiled the slate for phases 5 and 6. While he did reveal all the titles for phase 5, he did leave some titles for phase 6 blank. This left many MCU fans to speculate whether Feige and the company had an exciting card hidden in their sleeve.
Announcing Krysten Ritter’s return as Jessica Jones certainly would add much excitement to the next couple of phases in the MCU. The franchise has dealt with many complaints from fans who feel phase 4 is a step down from the previous three phases. Shows like She-Hulk, MoonKnight, and Ms. Marvel were divided among fans and critics.
While adding Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones won’t solve all the issues plaguing the MCU right now, it could serve as a reminder that Kevin Feige and company know how to tap into fans’ wishes and love for previous Marvel outings. The first season of Jessica Jones impressed many who were already enthralled with Netflix’s Daredevil. At one point, it seemed Jessica Jones had gained more viewers than all the Marvel Netflix shows.
The final season of Jessica Jones left Krysten Ritter’s character in a bit of a fork on the road as she looked to finally quit the life of a private detective only to hear David Tennant’s Kilgrave speaking inside her head. There is the possibility that Kevin Feige and Marvel may want to continue with this story and bring the character into the ever-expanding MCU. Whether or not that does happen remains to be seen.
