Elon Musk is stopping at nothing to become the owner of Twitter. The tech billionaire is even getting into the fragrance industry to purchase the social media platform. According to Deadline, Musk began a hawking perfume called Burt Hair via his tunneling firm, The Boring Company, and is asking folks to purchase the product so that he could raise enough funds.
Elon Musk asked on Twitter Wednesday for people to purchase his perfume. Musk noted that sales for the product had exceeded $1 million so far. The tech billionaire was so proud of the number of products he sold that he changed his Twitter profile to read “Perfume Salesman.”
Burt Hair is selling at $100 a bottle and is dubbed “The Essence of Repugnant Desire.” According to Boring Company’s official website, Elon Musk’s new perfume will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2023. Musk basked in the glory of his new venture in a series of tweets over the past few days. He claimed that his getting into the fragrance business was “inevitable.”
According to Nancy Tartaglione from Deadline, the checkout process for those wanting to try Elon Musk’s new fragrance takes you to a payment form that accepts major credit cards and crypto. The Boring Company was previously known for selling flamethrowers at $500 a piece and raising $10 million. The company can now add fragrance to its portfolio.
Filings last week suggested that Elon Musk may have been on his way back to purchasing Twitter. Tesla CEO offered to buy the social media platform for $44 million, the price he agreed upon when he first made the deal in April. A judge overseeing the case recently decided to stay the trial scheduled for this month in Delaware Chancery Court. Musk now has until October 28th to close the deal.
Many thought Elon Musk had given up on his dream to purchase Twitter when he didn’t celebrate reaching over 100 million followers. However, the tech billionaire continued to forge on and now seems to be doing whatever he can to close the deal. While Musk may be proud of his recent accomplishment, there is one thing that may slow down his momentum.
We reported earlier that Elon Musk is under federal investigation related to his $44 billion acquisition of the social media platform. Musk has exchanged correspondence with federal authorities, but Twitter is now asking for documents related to the investigation.
We’ll have to see whether any of this will slow down the purchase. Elon Musk previously stated that several accounts on Twitter are comprised of bots. He also claimed the social media platform did not provide him with the necessary information regarding spam and faced a class action lawsuit from shareholders.
Who knows, perhaps Elon Musk’s investment in Burnt Hair will pay for all the lawsuits he’s facing during this ordeal. It certainly costs money to be a billionaire, especially one with many dreams and ambitions. As for how the Elon Musk/Twitter saga will end, only time will tell.
