Daredevil: Born Again Will Ditch A Key Castmember From The Show
Deborah Ann Woll says she likely will not be returning for Daredevil: Born Again.
Fans are more than ready to experience Daredevil: Born Again, which is slated to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2024. Although the blind character has already made his debut in the MCU during a brief scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter Parker’s lawyer Matt Murdock, followed by a more significant role in the Disney+ series She-Hulk, this will mark the first series for the man without fear since Netflix pulled the plug on their own Daredevil series back in 2018.
We know Vincent D’Onofrio will return as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, as he showed up in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, and there are rumblings that Elden Henson will reprise the role of Foggy Nelson from the hit Netflix series, however, The Direct is reporting that Deborah Ann Woll, who portrayed Murdock’s secretary Karen Page, has little hope that she’ll be brought back for Disney+’s Daredevil iteration.
Deborah Ann Woll recently took to Twitter to provide her followers with an update regarding her potential return as Karen Page in the MCU’s upcoming Daredevil series, Daredevil: Born Again. A tweet from one of her fans indicated the actress was confirmed to reprise her role from the Netflix series, but her reply suggested otherwise. She stated that if the information regarding her appearance in the forthcoming Disney+ series were true, she has not been informed by Marvel Studios.
Filming for Daredevil: Born Again will reportedly take place next February, and both Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have known for quite some time that they’ll both have a role in the upcoming series. The fact that Deborah Ann Woll has yet to be contacted by Marvel indeed casts doubt on a possible return in the new Daredevil show, particularly since filming on the project will supposedly take place in a mere four months.
Although Elden Henson is said to be returning as Foggy Nelson in the Disney+ series, nothing has been made official on his end either.
The characters played by Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson in Netflix’s Daredevil were integral to Matt Murdock’s story. Henson’s Foggy, like in the comics, is Matt’s best friend and law partner, while Woll’s Karen serves as the office manager for their law firm. Both actors appeared in nearly every episode of the Netflix series before it was canceled following the conclusion of its third season.
Although we all had our fingers crossed that Deborah Ann Woll would be joining Cox and D’Onofrio for a Daredevil reunion on Disney+, and quite frankly it’s hard to imagine the show without her, it appears Marvel is taking Daredevil: Born Again in an entirely new direction.
Of course, the studio is known for both its secrecy as well as its unexpected surprises, so it’s entirely possible Woll is wearing her poker face. Time will tell if Woll pops up on Daredevil: Born Again, which has been described as somewhat of a reboot, but for now, you can catch her on all three seasons of Netflix’s Daredevil show, which is now streaming on Disney+.
