The Frasier Reboot Will Change The Series In A Huge Way
The Frasier reboot is changing the series by making the old series regular characters only cameos and guest appearances.
The Frasier reboot is officially happening, as the revival series has been picked up by Paramount+, however, the series is also going to be making a major change to its format. The normal recurring characters that have appeared in the series before will now be treated as guest appearances and cameos, instead of being super involved with every episode. This could be because everyone involved might have some crazy busy schedules, or the new reboots series is going to be focusing more on Kelsey Grammar’s character far more.
David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, and Peri Gilpin will all be making guest appearances in the Frasier reboot but will not be series regulars. This could also be because the new series is going to take Dr. Crane to a new location. It could be that the character has uprooted his entire life in Seattle to move to a new location, and thus won’t be seeing his friends as often as he had before.
The good thing about the Frasier reboot shaking things up in this manner is it gives the reboot a chance to hold the familiarity of the original show, while also making things seem new and fresh for an audience that may not have been introduced to the sitcom back in the 1990s. There are a ton of older shows making a comeback, so we would hope that Frasier is going to bring in a new formula that will see the series take on new life. The new formula is likely to bring in a brand-new host of friends that will complement the life of Dr. Frasier Crane.
While most of the plot of the new Frasier reboot is being kept under wraps, we would presume that moving locations means that Frasier is going to be possibly changing up his career a bit as well. He might still be a radio-based therapist, but could he possibly be attempting to also work as a normal therapist that takes on clients? This is just wild speculation at this point, but it sounds like the reboot is going to be taking some chances in terms of the plot of the new series.
Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli will be penning the new Frasier reboot. Kelsey Grammer, Tom Russo, and Jordan McMahon will be serving as executive producers for the new reboot as well. Grammer had hinted that he believes shooting will begin this month, which could mean that we are going to be hearing about the new series regulars in the coming weeks.
The Frasier reboot will be streaming on Paramount+, and if Grammer is right about the series beginning its production this month, we could be seeing the series premiere on the streaming app sometime in the fall of 2023. Also, the coming weeks will determine more casting announcements about the series regulars that will be joining Dr. Frasier Crane’s life. We are not sure at what capacity David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, and Peri Gilpin will be appearing, but they are confirmed to at least show up in some way as cameos or guest appearances.
