Jameela Jamil, who stars as Titania in Marvel’s She-Hulk, continues to respond to negative comments about the Disney+ series. On Saturday, the actress posted a video on Twitter of herself eating McDonald’s fries in character at New York Times Square with the caption, “Waiting for the final episode of She-Hulk life…” This apparently ticked off someone online who implied he wasn’t waiting for the finale.
The Titania actress responded on social media with a diss at a person, saying, “lol….why are so many men upset. Are you all okay?” Jameela Jamil later doubled down on her support for She-Hulk by tweeting that the show didn’t “stick to any old formula, and we made it to number 1 in the ratings.” Her tweets come as the series is about to air its ninth episode on Disney+.
This isn’t the first time Jameela Jamil has been outspoken on social media regarding She-Hulk. When someone criticized episode 7 of the show on social media, Jamil responded by asking if the person knew if the series was “a spoof.” The fan criticized the episode for turning Jamil’s character “into a joke.”
Jameela Jamil’s quick defense of the series also comes after the actress told THR at Comic-Con that she doesn’t begrudge fans for voicing their opinions. The actress said at the time that she was “on [the fan’s] side” and that she “never mind any criticism or feedback.”
So, what changed? Perhaps it’s because the backlash is becoming quite strong online. Jameela Jamil has appeared in a few episodes of She-Hulk, mainly as the antagonist. She first appeared in the first episode when her character crashed into a courtroom and confronted Jen Walters.
As polarizing as the show appears to have been, it seemed to have turned the corner with the most recent episode, which featured the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil. Jameela Jamil’s Titania was nowhere to be seen in episode 8 of She-Hulk, however. Plus, the series may’ve ended Titania’s character storyline with Jen two episodes prior.
Whatever happens in the show’s season finale, one could bet it may not even involve Titania. Jameela Jamil’s time in She-Hulk may’ve already ended, which is strange considering that Titania is arguably She-Hulk’s main antagonist in the comics. There are a lot of other plot threads that need to be addressed, so maybe adding Titania in the finale isn’t a good idea.
Regardless, Jameela Jamil will probably have to continue her defense of She-Hulk until the finale airs. On Monday, the actress followed up her tweets about the show, saying that “it’s absolutely fine” for fans to hate it. After claiming that some fans were being too “hostile,” someone asked what the actress meant. Jamil responded by referencing how someone told her she was nothing but a “diversity hire” and that she’d “never work again” in the industry.
This controversy isn’t going away any time soon. We’ll have to wait and see whether Jameela Jamil will return as Titania in another MCU project. Maybe we’ll get answers soon.
