See Alexandra Daddario Star In A New Anne Rice Series
The first trailer for the upcoming Alexandra Daddario-led series Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches is here!
AMC+ released the newest trailer for the Alexandra Daddario series Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches this week, which is set to debut on the subscription streaming service platform starting January 5, 2023. The supernatural horror drama will undoubtedly take Daddario into fresh waters after her recent stay at The White Lotus, which netted the actor a nomination this year for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. However, the show will not be a complete departure for Daddario as she is seemingly well versed at playing characters in a variety of genres for both film and television.
According to a report by Deadline, the new trailer showcasing Alexandra Daddario in Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches was released on the streamer’s official YouTube account this week, amounting to close to 60,000 views so far. Daddario will star as Dr. Rowan Fielding, billed as a neurosurgeon who discovers her heritage and link to the prominent Mayfair family, a dynasty that is full of powerful witches who have been haunted by a frightening spirit. Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches will costar Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, Boardwalk Empire star Jack Huston, and will feature guest appearances by actors Annabeth Gish, Beth Grant, Erica Gimpel, and Jen Richards
The series starring Alexandra Daddario is based on the best-selling books by Anne Rice entitled Lives of the Mayfair Witches, which was published in the early 1990s as a trilogy series of novels. Rice passed away in 2021 at the age of 80 and was well-known for writing gothic fiction and erotic novels that included The Vampire Chronicles and Exit to Eden. The Vampire Chronicles series spawned two movie adaptations, 1994’s Interview with the Vampire and 2002’s Queen of the Damned, the former of which starred Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, and a young Kirsten Dunst in her breakout role.
As Alexandra Daddario is set to lead Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, the series will be one of the first leading roles for the actor that is best known for her performances in ensemble projects like Baywatch alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, in addition to True Detective opposite Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. Often a featured performer in many of these projects, Daddario has showcased her acting range in big blockbusters and franchises, including the Percy Jackson film series and a stint for Ryan Murphy on American Horror Story: Hotel. The New York native was part of the critically acclaimed HBO anthology series The White Lotus, which saw Daddario match wits with the likes of Connie Britton, Jake Lacey, Jennifer Coolidge, and Steve Zahn.
Alexandra Daddario’s take on Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches for AMC+ will begin in January 2023 and new episodes will roll out weekly on the streamer. The trailer released this week comes just when spooky season is starting as audiences inch closer to Halloween, with new horror content being released almost daily. If the new series does well, Anne Rice’s collection may continue to see more projects developed from her best-selling novels.
