In the seemingly never-ending saga that has become the streaming wars in recent years, Netflix may still be on top in comparison to Hulu and Disney+ when it comes to thrilling original television shows like Stranger Things and the new true crime adaptation, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The latter stars Evan Peters as he traverses the life of controversial serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, who went on a murder spree that ended in 16 people killed between 1978 and 1991. Now, it appears that fans of both shows have noticed that a younger version of Jeffrey Dahmer may have appeared in an episode of Stranger Things season 4, to which clips from the science fiction series have made their way on the popular social media platform, TikTok.
According to a report by MovieWeb, a scene from Stranger Things season 4 is suddenly going viral on TikTok due to a shot of a young actor walking behind series star Sadie Sink as she exits a bus, appearing to look very similar to that of a young Jeffrey Dahmer. There has been no confirmation from Ross or Matt Duffer concerning this lookalike to see if they intended to have a Midwestern representation of Dahmer in their show, but fans of Stranger Things have been pointing out that the two look eerily similar.
The scene in question did not get a lot of attention when it was first released on Netflix earlier this year, mostly because Jeffrey Dahmer wasn’t on the minds of anyone watching until Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story dropped on the same subscription streaming service last month.
It is most likely just a coincidence that a younger actor appeared to look like Jeffrey Dahmer on Stranger Things season 4, since the series is supposed to depict 1980s pop culture and Dahmer was well into his 20s by the time Stranger Things is supposed to be set. However, many kids from the era sort of had the same look as Dahmer with glasses and blonde hair, especially in the Midwest, so it could be plausible that the Duffer brothers were just trying to cast extras in scenes that would look the part of a teenager attending an Indiana high school in the 1980s.
The resemblance is uncanny though, and fans have taken to TikTok to show their disdain for the resemblance that the poor extra had to that of the famous cannibalistic serial killer.
Developed for Netflix by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, Evan Peters portrays the murderous Jeffrey Dahmer in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story alongside Richard Jenkins, Molly Ringwald, and Niecy Nash. A departure from his Emmy Award-winning work on the miniseries Mare of Easttown opposite Kate Winslet, Peters continues his frequent collaboration with Ryan Murphy that started when he appeared in American Horror Story and Pose.
As for Sadie Sink as her character of Max Mayfield, she didn’t seem to notice the future serial killer walk past her in Stranger Things season 4, and she seemed very busy fighting off Vecna throughout the course of that season.
