Marvel’s Intelligencia

As audiences consume as much as they can of the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe offerings, the newest episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law proves to be a stunner with the introduction of a powerful supervillain team named Intelligencia. Starring Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, the series is one of Disney+’s most popular at the moment and serves to further the storylines behind the famous attorney and her unlikely band of superhero clients and the villains she faces on a daily basis. The sixth episode of the show entitled “Just Jen” deals with introducing Intelligencia as possibly the big bad villain that She-Hulk must face in the first season, primarily because the character has yet to have a main villain to content with as of yet.

Originally developed by Jeff Parker and Paul Pelletier, the Intelligencia are a team of supervillains from the Marvel comics that band together in order to facilitate evil deeds to benefit each member of the team. MODOK, which is rumored to be featured in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, had at one point led the Intelligencia in their quest and will most likely factor into She-Hulk: Attorney at Law before the first season is completed, setting MODOK up to be featured in stories within the MCU later on. In some iterations, the Intelligencia and MODOK battle the Hulk with the goal of developing their own all-powerful being through the use of cosmic radiation, resulting in what ComicBook.com has reported to be Red She-Hulk, A-Bomb, and Amadeus Cho.

The episode in question of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premieres today and sets up the Intelligencia as a website at first where there are forums within the website that are full of members echoing their disdain for Jennifer Walters, including death threats hurled at the lawyer when she is in She-Hulk form. There are scientists on the website that are communicating with these members of the forum in order to attempt a mission to steal some of Walters’ blood for nefarious reasons. This setup will likely show how the Intelligencia comes together in physical form, and will probably carry through to the end of the first season of the series, which currently stars Maslany alongside Renee Elise Goldberry, Ginger Gonzaga, Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Tim Roth, and Benedict Wong.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is the latest Disney+ series that follows many of the stories built within the Marvel Cinematic Universe to further plots for upcoming films within the same cannon. A lot of these shows have gone on to great success, such as Loki starring Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson, WandaVision with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, and Ms. Marvel starring newcomer Iman Vellani and Matt Lintz. The subplots involved in many of these shows are setting up characters and storylines that will feature in some way in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Five starting next year, including the films Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The Marvels, and possibly Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
